i still have that k610, i am not reseller, just a mobile freak. i upgrade my fones in the service usually. i do prefer the joypad over any se joys, but indeed, a bit bigger one could be more comforteable

the whole joystick thing amazes me. i hear about so many people with the urban myth of the dodgy se joysticks, yet in my store se outsells all other manfacturers and i have very rarely seen one comeback because of a faulty joystick. up untill recently, i too have not had issue with a se joystick untill 3 weeks ago my k800i joystick would not go down for me (no sniggering please). i have put this down to the fact that i downloaded sonic and played the hell out of it. orange have since exchanged the handset.

oh yeah, without a doubt. i'm surprised that no manufacturer has used the ibm thinkpad style 'nipple'. it might add a bit to cost, but takes up very little room!

i have to say that all round, the k610i is probably the most elegant phone on the market at the moment.

Ive had the Nokia 6280 which has a d-pad too, bigger of course but on the K610 its analogic to whole size a bit smaller with no problems at all, executes fast and feels-looks really great, specially the blueish backlight.I had the K800 for a month, was messed up with the joystick,I discovered in its service menu that when testing it went to all eight(8??!!!!???!!) directions.I will never again look at a SE joystick thats for sure.

I agree, bud, and it will only become apparent when you turn on the phone and start using it. After seeing the concise and delightful user interface, you start noticing that the built is consistent w/ the overall personality of the phone. Understated rather than underpowered.
I gladly noticed that the back (camera side) of the phone doesn't attract attention at all, as SE intended. Though the front did get a lot of looks when i turned it on at night, with the radiation-like glow of the blue backlight and the bright screen, w/ streaming TV on full-screen mode via (free) 3G!
Talking about the screen, the few mm improvement over older K/W series really makes a lot of difference. It seems much bigger; sometimes, paper specs fail to convey the beauty of the real thing.
K610i has made me remember the reason why I became loyal to SE/Ericsson: It's the opposite of false advertising -- finding hidden functions, little surprises here and there. In the K610i's case, it's the beauty beneath the simple casing. |

Slim, lightweight, and those 4 backlight bulbs surrounding the center button of the d-pad - beautiful in the dark! I also don't miss the FM radio because i sometimes want to listen to AM too anyway, and a separate pocketable AM/FM does the job. As a stored music player, K610 actually sounds good. We plugged in a pair of HPM-70 and it was clear and had plenty bass even at normal equalizer setting. |
