Don't know if this has already been posted but here is a decent shootout between the Z1 and the 1020. The bloke in the video shows some good points and bad points of both cameras and is worth a watch

Good Video. I think the Lumia 1020 OIS wasn't as good as the Z1 software Image Stabilisation which surprised me

Shootout teaser: 6 best smartphone cameras go head to head
http://blog.gsmarena.com/shoo[....]phone-cameras-go-head-to-head/

Shocking!!!

No Z1 at all in comparison! "phone 2" was actually S4

Cheers,
Miki

^

Very interesting, as some on here were very confident that #2 was the Z1.

True, I was one of them
Fanboyism aside, S4 is great in camera dept., especially given its (sony's) sensor size 1/3.04" if I'm not mistaken.

Guys, any news on BIONZ update? Hope this Sony Japan/EU rumble won't push it back.

Disappointed that Phone Arena left the Z1 out of their shootout. It does seem like they were trying to be a bit misleading as the original blind comparison mentioned the Z1 and that they took some of the best smartphone cameras for the comparison.

While I'm sure the Z1 would have faired quite nicely there, I do hope this sort of test is redone once the Z1s final firmware is released.

As for the GSM Arena one, the Z1 seems to be just behind the 1020 just going by the comments on their page. Then again the Lumias shot is 5MP vs. larger shots from the others, so that does hide imperfections a bit better. Can't wait to see the full shootout.

my phone got dropped and stood on last night on a rough concrete floor

was out with a few guys and we were at one of our fav haunts and a few song requests came in so the chap behind the bar threw me over a wire with jack on the end and I plugged it in, it was crossing the entrance to the bar (not very smart) and the girls had to sort of step over it as they went in and out, well of course it was going to happen - not only did my Z1 get very violently pulled to the floor but then she stood on it grinding the screen into rough jagged concrete - when I looked down she was literally standing on my phone with the screen face down grinding it into the floor

well it survived the fall but did not survive the grinding and now has some really bad deep scrapes on the screen that can be felt very easily with a finger - it was so deep I thought the glass was cracked but I think it is just the ASF

Not her fault as I should have moved so the wire wasn't laying across the entrance to the bar - stupid is what stupid does

Guys, I find the power button a bit too small to my liking...it feels fragile too
Since we don't have the home button, the only way to wake the phone up is the power button

If only there's a mod to let us wake the phone up using other buttons or double tapping the screen

Anyone feels the same as well?
I remember (two phones ago) I had to use a finger nail to hit the power button on my phone lol

I find the power button just fine and if that is all you have to mention here then I think you are well ahead of the game
