Hello guys,

I've visited SE centre in my city, trying to upgrade my f/w. They said the latest f/w is R1GB but again they dissappointed me. They told me the upgrade process took 2 hours and my data in phone memory (phone book, sms, mms, etc) will lost, but all data that saved on M2 didn't lost because they unplug it during process. Is it true guys????

For all of u that upgraded ur f/w through SEUS, Wotan, have u lost the data I Mentioned above?? And have u guys wait 2 hours during upgrade software???

Updating via SEUS doesn't delete any data. Upgrading via Wotan and SESC erases all data because it reinstalls the whole firmware. 2 hours? Very normal. Here, 2 weeks...BTW, my K800i is R1JC002. Updated via Wotan. It's a perfect phone.

Here's a little something that I just discovered in my K800 that propably many of you know, but I bet most of you don't, since it's not written in the manual. Try to upload to the phone a .txt file, and open it. Yes, you can read .txt files with the built-in browser! COOL!

It IS a right when you buy something faulty (bugs, crashes, and shit like these) to have it supported for FREE, and it's their DUTY to offer that since you PAY for that device. IF there had been a PERFECT F/W that worked fine, there wouldn't be such a need. I don't think you would think like that when buying a car! That's why GUARANTEES are for!
Don't be fools! Demand what you PAY for! Don't be a victim, unless you want to feel like one...

Agree and yes they have SEUS and SE authorised service center to provide free service and firmware. But there is a catch. You need a warranty phone and SEUS is only part flashing. Also giving your phone to authorized service centre take time (few days at least). Some ppl here even buy phone from internet that is not supposed to be sell in his country (like buying a chinese traditional language phone to use in English market). I think wotan, kulan, etc is actually providing a value for such customers that need DIY solution and glad to pay in exchange of time and convenience.

@hanugro,

You have a point but have you considered the fact that SE and the other manufactures do not intentionally sell faulty products? It's like you and the other complainer (not saying you are complaining) do not realize what it takes to get a product out the door in such short development times. SE and Nokia for example have a six month, conception to birth cycle for their products. 6 Months. That is damn near impossible to accomplish but they do, and they do it well for the most part. Sure the software can sometimes be buggy or not function as advertised, but this is in no way an attempt to cheat or defraud the customer. A classic example are the people in this thread. To be honest, it is populated by people that seem to have nothing better in life to do than to push buttons and report on their phones. These are the ones that live to find bugs and complain about it and feel that they have been ripped off by SE. The average user hardly ever comes across this bugs as they simply use the phone for its intended purposes, to make and receive calls. SE offers SEUS as a way to try and fix these issues, and allows companies like Wotan to have access to pre-released firmware so that they can offer this to customers that need the latest and greatest right away. Once again, SE did not have to do this, but is providing this service in an effort to alleviate dissatisfaction. Some people truly need to grow up and see it for what it is. Customers have demanded new and better phones every six months, which by the way was the life cycle of the k800i, that function perfectly. This is never going to be the case. As long as a human is involved, phones will have problems.

Do you really believe that "6 month cycle" crap the manufacturers give you? You must be joking! My friend, technology has gone far-far ahead of your imagination, but they don't need to "offer" it to you at once. What I mean is that they give out technology bit by bit. Every time they go a little step further, they sell like crazy, make hell lot of money, and when selling a specific model comes to a poor level, boom, they go to the next step, a new model is out!! and the circle starts again and again giving them more and more money since we all run to buy that new model, until the next one comes out!
Do you really think it's so difficult for them to make a 10Mpixels camera phone today? But then how would they sell the cameras? No one would buy them!
Or is it difficult to make a phone supporting all the well known formats with a 4 or more GB of internal memory? But then who would buy the i-pod or any other mp3 player?
Don't be so ignorant. We are all part of they "money-making" system! And the worst of all is that some of us feel thankful and pleased for that!
(PS: damn! you made me answer you again! )

Yes, I believe because I am in the business. No one in the business of making money is going to put it all on the table. It is planned. That is why you have version 1, 2, x. This is marking 101 and you do not seem to get this. Like it or not, the k800i is an old phone that was old from the moment it hit the market. Second, you have zero point zero understanding about R&D and every comment you make shows this. You can't just crap out a design, in your head and then magically it appears. For example: you have to get host nation approval, design and review boards to certify the device, negotiate for parts, etc....You simply have a myopic view of how things are done. Your second post about a 10 megapixel camera once again proves that you have no idea what you are talking about. A 10 megapixel camera has a very large CCD, (approximately 23.6 x 15.8mm and would yield 10.2 megapixels) which would be too big to put in a camera, but then again, you in your infinite wisdom knew this. Dude, you are way over your head here. Leave the technical stuff to the pros.

I do however understand your desire to have a product that works, first time, every time, but as I said, as long as humans are involved, you will be heading down to your local SE shop or using SEUS, or Wotan. Simple as that.

Finally, I did not make you do anything. You decided to step in it again all by yourself.

What I just want to say is SE has done it job properly through SEUS and authorized service center. I am satisfied with SE otherwise I won't use SE exclusively since my first T68i to K800i (despite unnecessary fastport change). I understand it is not easy to make firmware but I hope SE also make sure it does not have any remaining major bug. Just because the phone is 6 motnhs old, so no any other firmware to fix major bugs (like video preview in R1GB) is no good. But I can live with minor one.

Also wotan, kulan, DVT exist because ppl have special need. They provide service that is not provided by SE (change language, etc). SE has every right NOT to provide this kind of service. So I think it is good third party provide it for small fee. I use this kind of service myself as I change language for my wife Z610.

If you don't want to pay then stick with SEUS and authorized service centre. It is free as long as you play by the rule (buy warranted SE phone).

BTW, apart from reported video preview bug my phone has no other complain. I even can live with this bug because at least there is a workaround to avoid it (using list instead of thumbnail). Final word just use and enjoy your phone now because you will replace it within few years anyway. Cheers.
