According to the demo used at MWC, the dual cam of XZ2P won't have rival for next years unless Samsung copies it too.
Video recorded by previous device ( looks like XZ1c) at ISO 4800 could barely allow users to see what was going on in the little village built inside the dark room.
The dual cam could show everything at ISO 12800 : castle, windmill, river etc...
Link below has image.. If someone could gently upload this image...

The weird part is that there is no LOW LIGHT / NIGHT SCENE icon beside settings.
You see the CANDLE ( low light icon) on the other phone.

I found something strange on GMSARENA photo campare tool.
The good light result is bad as seem like it increase the ISO (but for what ?!)
The result from XZ1 is better.
But result in low light XZ2 is better than XZ1 and S9.

Due to ISO. XZ2 shot at 80, XZ1 at 40.
If you can set both same ISO/SS, the XZ2 will win...
The samples of XZP are at 90. While XZ1 at 40.
But a tech site here took shots near Sony's booth.
Samples were better than Note 8 and iX.
Some were better than Pixel 2.

Test for low light not fair. ISO 200 vs ISO 800 on XZ 1... |

This is unfortunate

no quick charging on the new EC270
Guess the EU rules don't apply to compatibility only that the port is the same on all devices? This is odd, I feel one could challenge sony with the compatibility issue with other phones in the EU at least. It technically is a charging cable?

Probably too much current passing through that might damage headsets connected while charging if some of that current goes through the audio jack.

if the xz2 hardware is really identical to xz1, then that tells us Sony had never bother to optimized theor software to work with the hardware properly.... unless qualcomm tweaked the S845 hardware to work better with the sony sensor.

Sony has something like five to ten times smaller team and R&D budget
than those big guns (Apple, Google, Samsung even Huawei)
what do you really expect from them? See the reality not wild imagination
seriously even keep phone business running steadily is brutal already.

That is the problem with Sony Mobile. The rnd is so small yet Sony as a whole isn't that small. |

The standard audio signal in Type-C doesn't go through power pins, it goes through the regular data pins.
This another reason why such adapters are bad idea. not just for carrying them but now even for functionality. just use a single charging cable with a small dongle in the middle to connect the headphone to it..

i dont know how much big sony mobile r&d team, but sony mobile makes 7-8 billion dollars revenue in one year, i doubt you can explain shitty camera algorithm with just money spending, i cant explain even why only xa ultra's front camera has ois while others dont have. |

I think it's important to keep focus on the fact that Sony seems to be fixing all the things about their phones that people have complained about for the longest time. The camera is greatly improved, the front facing speakers are louder and produce better sound, the bezels have been trimmed down, the US finally has a fingerprint sensor out of the box, and it's got wireless charging for those who want it...
I think this is a great first step with their new design. People who have handled the new phones say they feel great in the hand, so that's another plus. In the near future we're going to see the dual cam with new processor chip so that's going to likely be a big selling point for them if it delivers on its promise. In the not too distant future we're likely to see things like in-screen fingerprint sensors, folding displays and if the rumors are true a 4K OLED display. I'm very excited to see what's around the corner |
