For those in the US waiting for the Z1!

According to my source the official US release date for Z1 is October 14th and it will go up for pre-order on Monday.

Hi Dacha, you heard anything about the screen lottery for the C6906 that the NA is getting?

Had my first freeze of an app and eventually the OS which required a hard reset using the red button on the side. I believe a twitter app was to blame.

On a lighter note, I've noticed Sony advertising the Z1 rather heavily here in gdansk, apart from tv spots, they have quite a few large billboards with the Z1 in many areas around town, especially in old town.

phonearena is doing a blind test. can someone help me identify which is the z1? i suspect phone 2 is the z1 and phone 5 is L1020. phone 6 is definitely htc one.

4 is the 1020 and 2 is the Z1 as for the rest it really doesn't matter - the last shot on phone 2 was a shaky hand not the phone

I'm looking for this kind of car cradle as well that uses the magnetic port to charge so that we can snap in and out the phone easily in the car.

Any ideas ?

I'm waiting for Sony to come out with a Z1 version of this case

http://www.xperiablog.net/201[....]ave-for-xperia-z-ultra-owners/

Imagine it... 6000mAh all to your Z1! Not to mention the added protection such a case would afford it.

International warranty is something that is seriously lacking with Sony Mobile - there is absolutely no reason why they don't provide cover provided the device is officially sold in the country and were Sony has official service centers - Apple do it and so do Samsung and most other global IT companies - I have an Alienware Laptop and it was bought in the USA registered in the UK and gets fully covered in Thailand for free including service and parts - I've had a Dell engineer to my Apartment twice in the last 3 years

Sony needs to do a bit of catch up with this as it's become common place for people to by product over the net from international sources

OIS Fight (for video recording) 1020 vs Z1 vs G2
Lumia 1020 vs. Xperia Z1 vs. G2 : OIS FIGHT (stabilisation vidéo)

I think Sony did an amazing job with its SteadyShot implementation in video mode. I can only wish for OIS in imaging, I believe it would blew competition out of the water.

Cheers,
Miki

DROP TEST!!!!

spoiler: nothing broken but no long works.

this is proof that sony does not really need to apply an anti-shatter film. i just don't know which is more expensive: fixing a shock-induced damage or replacing the broken glass cover.

Why not? If there were no anti-shatter film You would have to pay for fixing a shock-induced damage and replace the broken glass

BTW. It's weird it won't work, practically all phones are tested to sruvive impact from 1,5m...

why would you need shatter-proofing when the glass on your device is unlikely to break and shatter? they should've just included a specially-built thin impact proofing case as the freebie, not the shatter-proofing film. their chassis design protects the glass well enough from accidental drops. the dragontrail glass they use is not more durable than gorilla but the design of the frame prevents the glass from directly hitting the ground.
