Dual sims used to have slower software update but not anymore since Sony are merging the update for dual and single sims models for Z5. Unless you really want LTE CAT6 there shouldn't be any disadvantage for dual sims model.
Its a relief to hear if that's true.

I have. I decided on the teal green version. Was going to go for the gold one, but I think the green looks very classy. I have only had the phone since Sunday, but no problems thus far. Very happy with phone. My previous phone was the htc one m7, and this is a worthy upgrade in my opinion.
That's great! I am planning on getting teal green too ..Any heating problems so far? Battery life?

A colleague has a black Z5. It's fluent. Solid build. And looks beautiful.
He came from Z1 (or 2) and is very happy with it.
I am currently jealous of all the people owning that beauty..
I will be getting mine next month as I am busy with work and don't want to be distracted..Moving from an Xperia P so its gonna take a little getting used to..On that note I am proud to say my 3 year old Xperia P survived a 7 feet fall, trampled on while running on a treadmill twice, had to be disinfected (sterillum) after accidentally slipping into a used dressing tray and the list goes on,all this without a scratch guard or a protective case and its still in good condition and can go on..I dont think Z5 could endure all that stress ..Need to be real careful and not abusive as i was with my P (made good memories with it but need to upgrade as technology advances.) Eagerly waiting to make new memories with Z5.Sorry about the rambling.
Please post your experiences with Z5 if or when you own one..I ll post mine as soon as i get it..

There are 29 states in India and the moment we step out of our Home state/Home network, we get charged ridiculously for Roaming. Considering most of the students and young workers study/work outside their state, they tend to have a secondary sim to be used when they are back home.
and yea, network is shit..one carrier has reception here and one doesn't have reception there. So people tend to carry a secondary one all the time
Got a point there..Now I am considering a dual SIM. My network works fine across states but yeah roaming costs set your wallets on fire..

My Xperia P was equally tough but eventually succumbed to way too much water exposure. I miss the feel of the metal and the look of the transparent strip, it was so awesome in silver. As nice as the glass is on the Z line, the feel of cold metal is much nicer than slippy glass. I used it to make a couple of holiday albums and the picture quality was great when printed out. I want to see more metal in the future. |

^ We will have to wait and see what Sony has to offer on the design front in 2016..I was hoping to get the phone with new design but I cant push another whole year with my current phone if the rumors of Z6 in 2H 2016 is true.Metal feels premium though.

Hope what ever new design they do comes with smaller bezels.
For a 5.2" phone, its tall which ruins one handed use for some. |

You can buy now new Z5 for about 520Euro in Poland.
Of course not official Sony channel which is still sick 700 Euro.
I might get one tomorrow.
From TMobile, just wondering how much the FW is screwed by branding?
Do these branded ones still get OTA?
And does Flashtool support Z5?

T-Mobile in the states installs a lot of bloatware and has the T-Mobile logo on the phone.
Perhaps it's different in Europe though.

Yes it is different here, we don't have any logos.
I'm getting mine in an hour, probably unbranded!

But flashed the Generic via flashtool and it's great.
More news soon.

So far I only test the camera.
Didn't set the apps yet as I still use my Z2 as my main phone.
The OS is fairly identical to the Z2.
But the app tray doesn't have the left-side menu, it has a menu on top instead.
They got rid of Play Store and What's New shortcuts.
Pity but ok, you can still rearrange apps how you like.
There is actually one extra line of space of the homescreen since everyhting is more packed downwards.
That's nice.
They got rid of the Camera Widget also, I have no idea why.
But it can be easily fixed by all the specific camera modes shortcuts on the homescreen.
It is brighter than Z2 too.
It looks stunning and I like the design.
I have the graphite black version.
Which means the front is black and the rest is much lighter, graphite with a little
touch of gold. It's a great colour.
I cannot comment on fingerprint scanner since I don't use it.
I still test the camera and some results will be posted soon.
Basically the 8mpx Manual mode is the killer especially in low light.
But I have to say the Auto mode is back to the quality and often the results are great as well.
In the Box there is UCH20 Charger and MH750 headphones.
It's the polish TMobile package.
Of course my phone got immediately unbranded by Flashtool.
BTW you have no idea what kind of crappy homescreen widget TMobile adds...
I mean if I'd be an uneducated user I'd hate it immediately.

Strange. Again the same issue with Calendar.
The same happened on my Z2.
When I bought my Z5 I synced my Google Calendar with the inbuilt app with my Google account.
But the silly thing synced only my main Calendar cathegory.
The other cathegories WERE NOT SYNCED and not visible on the calendar.
I had to downlad the Google Calendar and sync it too with my account.
And Google calendar displayed all of my custom cathegories.
STRANGELY the cathegories immediately appeared on the inbuilt app too. It's clearly a bug.

I've had the Z5 three weeks now and delighted with it. There's not a huge difference from the Z3, but that's not surprising as it's only a year on. The Fingerprint scanner works well, the screen looks lush and the call quality excellent. The camera improved with the latest firmware - so it's quick and, excuse the pun, snappy. The video quality is amazing with the steadyshot switched on in 1080p mode. The speakers seem louder than the Z3.
I also got the BSP10 bluetooth speaker free with it - so v happy all round. |

The phone is fantastic.
Some little issues:
The Calendar Sync
Xperia Transfer fails to work besides the Cloud method.
23mpx Mode should have Manual ISO.
