This is what I call a reasonable approach to a review:

The way we see it, there’s some strong brand awareness that surrounds the Nokia N8. One way or the other, both praises and criticism come down to the handset being a Nokia phone.

This statement comes from GSMArena.

They´ve released a blind test with the N8, a Pixon12 and a Sony´s latest generation back-lit sensor high-zoom HX5v (which has slightly above average image quality, IMO).

My selection:

1 - C
2 - A
3 - A
4 - B
5 - C
6 - C
7 - C (ISO 400 synthetic resolution scale) My guess is that here, the N8 is the letter C
8 - C (ISO 800 synthetic resolution scale) My guess is that here, the N8 is the letter C

I like the video but the quality can be even better if stay at 25fps.
Warmer colors for pictures would be great too.

I didnt think that picture taken above the three cars was all that more impressive than a standard firmware N8 picture. Both were pretty crisp with good detail.

Someone said the N8 does not have a 60fps or 120fps setting, is that really necessary ? who actually ever uses a phone to make slow motion videos ?

Perhaps the difference will show with higher ISO pictures.

I would like to have a VGA 60fps footage to play with. It´s funny sometimes.

I would like to have warmer colours, too. Perhaps the Daylight mode have warmer colours. Or the vivid mode.

Lots of pictures taken with the N8.

There are some pretty incredible shots there.

Hyperx has managed to up the frame rate from 25 to 30 fps already. Check it out. Check out the video too.

how do they do this? is this a firmware mod?

I believe so. I am using a Samsung I8910 HD right now and I follow him (on his forum as sacky). He is great with modded firmwares so far for the Omnia HD. I swear by his stuff, he is great.

About the GSM shootout, i'm pretty confident that C is N8, A is Sony and B is pixon (most sure of this). It's quite easy to recognize pixon images due to all the noise in the sky. The most interesting about this is that N8 actually produces better images than the dedicated camera, at least by my eyes.

A is definetly Sony shit stuff. I can recognize the "agressive" noise reduction anywhere. Its just like my Satio. C is the winner everywhere. (look at the MC drive sign how you can see the bolts with N8).

it's very easy to recognize the nokia on this blind test, it's the one who has a blurry area on the right of landscape pictures

So yes Nokia is the C

You do realize that the shootout has the pics in RANDOM order? That means that in pic row 1, A can be Sony, B Nokia and C Pixon, pic row 2 could be A Nokia, B Pixon and C Sony. You are supposed to pick your favourite pic in each row, not spot which pic is from which device!

so you are saying that every N8 picture is blurry on the right side?
