Up until now have there been any inprovments to WIFI connectivity?
Definitely, especially in the latest fw.
The device connects much faster and also connectivity range seems to have increased.
I haven't had any connectivitiy issues with my P1i since day 1, especially in the WLAN dept., but a/m improvements are remarkable imo.

Thats for sharing that. I was thinking about selling my P1 and going for maybe a G900 or something but I guess updating it and waiting for a sucessor would be the better thing to do.

Hi. I already flashed my phone from Hongkong region to P1 GW-1 version. It went smoothly. I update it using the SEUS, it says P1 update for World Generic 1. It also updated smoothly. But when I tick with the status screen, it says my P1 has CXC 162037 R9J005 firmware. Why is it didn't update? I thought the current update is R9K009? |

Hi again. I tried to re-flashed my P1i to GW-2. Re-update using the SEUS and finally got the latest firmware! Does it affects if you choose GW1 or GW2? Does it have compatibility issues? What is more advisable to flash? GW1 or GW2?
Here are the complete status after re-flashing to GW2 from GW1 and found out from CDA list for Sony Ericsson P1i that is became GW3:
Phone: CXC162037 R9K009
Bluetooth: CXC162143 R1D
Organiser: CXC162108 R6G04
CDA: CDA162022/2 R6G02

With this new firmware the green tint is virtually gone..
And the pics taken in low light conditions seem to be brighter...
Well, at least for me.
Just a little magenta left in the middle, and a very very little green on the right, but considering the lighting conditions this seems to be acceptable to me.
Look at the pics below.
I took the first two right before flashing, and the last one thereafter.
Same device, same room, same settings and no photoshop.
Before:
I don't have that green tint and I have one of the first French (or German) SW versions.

Weird! I've no idea how you ended up with GW3!!!!
AFAIK, there is no difference in the actual software that gets loaded on to the phone with GW1/2/3, and that they are all updated simultainiously.
My best guess is that they use the different CDAs for statistical marketing information, in that they release different world CDAs in different parts of the world and log when they're updated, to provide a picture of the kind of people who buy their products, and where they are from. I suppose they could also tell from this how far their phones migrate around the world, and hence the kind of people who are using them.
Of course now that users can change their CDAs at will, this information is rendered faily useless, unless of course they also log the IMEI at the point of update.......in which case they know even MORE about you.....

GW3 is the same as GW1/2, but he has also the italian language preinstalled.
I don't think it's about marketing research... |

So can anyone with P1i's (not French or German versions) confirm if the green tint is improved/gone with the latest firmware?
