I'm now on the HTC rom, having started out with a branded Vodafone V1615 - I'd strongly recommend it to any other Vodafone users...
Just to say this phone is really growing on me now, after a few quibbles to begin with that turned out to be mostly my fault... the only thing I'd change about it is the weight, but I'm getting used to that. Carrying this around reminds me of the days when my old P800 was considered cutting-edge and amazing, which is a good thing!
How is everyone doing screen caps of their today screens btw - is there an app for that or is there some "prt screen" button in their somewhere that I haven't found yet?

I don't consider it too heavy at all. certainly I don't feel my arm is tired after holding and using it. perhaps you need to work out a bit
as for screen captures, there are probably free ones but I use SuperSnap as its the best I have found for different method of capturing, and not expensive either

It's not heavy heavy you understand, I don't break out in a sweat or anything lifting it, it's just a little heavier than any mobile I've carried in the past - including that P800! It does have a nice quality feel to it though; you know it's that way because it's built properly, and absolutely crammed full of tech, so perfectly excusable on that score.
I don't really know why I'm complaining, if I wanted a featherweight I'd have a Razr or something, not the most powerful Windows Mobile on the market!

I was only kidding
but you're right, it has a great feel to it and I most definitly have no creaking that most SE and Nokia seem to get!

Hi everyone!
Was wondering about your experiences with Tom Tom and Google Maps!
My Google Maps places me in the gardens as I drive down the road! Follows the path of the road perfectly, but about 20 metres or so, off line...!
Tracking at 30 miles per hour means re-drawing is not so good.
The Tom Tom maps do not show some small roads in one of the villages that have, in fact, been there for 3-4 years !
I also notice that the Post Office in my village and the next village are 50 metres from where they should be! Maybe that is a govenment warning... soon to be removed altogether...
Please post your experiences ! I think I read here, masseur, that you tracked, using Google Maps, on the train ?

@ofiaich...
I really dislike tomtom with avengeance. It has no where near the functionality that Garmin have and the non-ability to see something on the screen when navigating, point to it and go there is useless. You can't even drag the map when navigating. Finding places to go also takes much longer and more prone to getting the wrong place than my Garmin.
Indeed as soon as I can find the full Europe version of the Garmin software my TyTN II I will be getting that. Currently only UK and Ireland are available.
TomTom also tries to track to the nearest road so when going off road or down the train line it hasn't really got a clue and I find no setting for off-road like I do in the Garmin.
TomTom use the same Navteq maps as Garmin so its really the crummy user interface that I don't like.
Both Google maps and Microsoft Live Search Maps track exactly where you are and so when off road on a train, thats what you see.
Obviously these 2 are potentially more costly as they have to download maps constantly and there is no ability to store the maps locally. Routing is ok on both and though I haven't tried it I believe the latest version of live maps can also do voice navigation

@masseur,
thanks for your reply ! I can't quite justify buying a nice Garmin unit at the moment. Most of my driving is local and I know where I am going!
But I do like the sound of the functions that you describe.
I get the feeling from your post that Garmin Interface and maps are available for the TyTn II ! Is that correct? I am off to do a search of the Garmin site!
I think here but seems to be for America ! Haha... more searching to do...
The problem that I found with Google Maps was that the blue tracking dot was positioned in the gardens alongside the road that I was driving along!

Expansys (for example) sellthe Garmin mobile XT but as I say, only the UK and Ireland version at present. The full Western Europe should be around 2 this price according to Garmin
...and yes, its available for Windows mobile 6. Indeed, again at Expansys, you can buy the TyTN II together with the Garmin Mobile XT

Hi masseur !
I can see -
Turn your smartphone into a GPS navigator with Garmin Mobile XT for smartphones. Garmin Mobile XT is a plug-and-play navigation solution that comes with a preloaded MicroSD* card with UK & Ireland street level maps and navigation software.
so does this come with a CD too, so it can be installed onto my own -SD card ? [ I forgot whether it is micro or mini! ]
I guess I can just copy across to my own card unless it is protected...

its a micro sd for the TyTN II and yes, my plan would be to copy the data across to my own card as I doubt you get a CD or DVD with this

Hi masseur,
thanks for that !
I have an order pending at Expansys so maybe they can put this with it ! I will call them tomorrow...
One thing I did like about Garmin, but I know not so important, was the ability to change the pointer to a car or truck etc !!
