I had the same problem on my P990 and M600 - that is when you start the Time app (e.g. to change an alarm) the phone just keeps vibrating. Obviously a setting corruption. It seems to have been caused as far as I can tell by the back-up process. I suspect a faulty SE COM driver. Anyway the only cure is a reflash or Master Reset and you need to re-install apps and sync your data.

Ok i have read the whole thread and i found that no one mentioned these bugs, so can anyone confirm these please as i'm lost:

My firmware is R7A001

1- My phone doesn't pause music/video playback during incoming events (like other phones W800i) i.e. incoming calls/sms/mail to alert me or ring. all i get is a vibration and a low beep. Is this a feature in the phone or a bug, is there a way to disable this, as i like to be alerted with any incoming events

2- Now as for the Alarm clock, it starts ringing loud but when it starts looping the assigned tone, it gets much lower compared to the first ring, any explanation for this......please!

3- looks like using the stylus pen causes screen scratches to the touch screen, did anyone else suffer from this....

Thanks all for your support, it's very much appreciated.

For all P990 experienced users, I'm a newbie here, does your phone pause music playback and ring your assigned ringtone during an incoming call, as mine just beeps and vibrate without pausing music playback, i hate this feature, is there a way to change it, please!!!

Thanks in advance!

There isn't a way to change it as far as I can remember. But I think it's cooler without pausing the music , beeping and vibratinng is enough for me.

what about the stylus? did it hurt your phone like it did with mine....recently i have found some scratches on the screen, likely they are caused by the stylus usage, mainly the dragging....??!

@illidian

my stylus is fine, I actually never had problems with my stylus scratching the screen since my p800 times.

How I think two things may cause this
a) faulty, broken stylus
b) maybe your screen has some dust or sand on it which may cause scratching when you touch them with your stylus

@Illidian Yes, scratches are normal to appear after a while. You should buy a screen protector.

I posted this on another thread before I noticed this thread which I think is more applicable. For this I apologise to all especially the Moderators.

Q: I have R7A001, R4F01, R3B01, R3B01 (India). I still have the following problems

a) the phone hangs (usually at the most imooportune times) sometimes when I want to send a message (SMS), sometimes when I am recieving a call, and sometimes when I want to take a photo. My Win-XP laptop and WM5 Atom are more reliable (now that IS saying something).

b) speakerphone volume is quite low.

c) I sometimes get the message corrupt memory card (I have a 1GB card) even after having formatted the card (on the 990).

d) battery life is 1.5 days instead of the expected 4-5 days.

Where do I go for a solution. I have missed a nice photo-op, an important call (the phone showed caller ID and starting vibrating - though not ringing - but would not let me take the call and I had to re-boot the phone) and this is getting frustrating.

SE (India) says that rebooting the phone 2-3 times a day will help. I say WHAT????

Hi everyone. I haven't been checking the site as often as usual, so forgive me if this has been mentioned.

The first thing is not a bug or problem; its just an interesting occurrence. When turning the phone on, startup takes forever. But if it is off while charging and you turn it on, it loads up in a few seconds. Is there really a reason for this much difference in startup time?

Next is a problem with the video player. I think I read something similar about this before, but I couldn't find it. After watching a video for about 30-40 minutes, the video starts to be choppy and sometimes freezes the whole phone. Upon checking Task Manager, it reveals that neither Media Player nor Video Player are even active. Swiss Manager just shows Video Player as active. I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Other than a few little quirks like this, I find the phone quick and stable. Hopefully the new firmware will be available Monday morning or maybe even before then. That should make things even better.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

@navinadv, 1.5 days is the typical battery life for the standard BST-33 battery, so what you're getting seems fine.

Its been 20 days since I got my P990. Out of the box I upgraded to new Firmware R7A001. I had only one boot so far of the Phone. I have installed swiss manager which takes care of things. I have not installed any try and buy applications. Only 3rd party applications installed are:
Profimail; WorldMate, Opera Mini; jzip;mobipocket reader;capture screen; and Agile messenger.
Agile application everytimes give kernel panics on closing so I stopped using it.

I do multi tasking and have been enjoying my phone. I tested all in built applications and system resources. Gmail works very well.

I am very contented with the phone and have had not much of hangs, self booting till now. All my purpose is solved and i have no compliants except for memory ram issues which we all face till now.

Swiss manager has worked well for me to control that. How ever, I have noticed if you have messaging or any other big programme like camera or world mate opened for long, the task manager tries to close down few applications. Th4 even if swiss manager is opened the task manager will choose on its own to terminate applications including swiss manager.

So I open the flip and again put swiss manager on.This way my ram memory is under control.

I use wifi a lot and yes it eats up the battery supply fast but I am still happy as over all all functions performed gives me results and at least I have had no major application faults or hangs of the phone.

Now I look forward to the new firmware which we all are and hope it will tweak and remove bugs and make this phone more desireable.

It should be out soon, sorry i dont have a definite date, unofficial versions have popped up on ebay. Didn't Jah's solution of reflashing work?
