Yeah the keyboard looks REALLY cheap. Not sure if the phone will be priced accordingly.
SE is now playing around like Nokia. Give us partially what we want but segment enough that if you want your cake and eat it too, you gotta go for the top end.
Specs are nice:
1.3Megapixel cam 4xZoom
256MB memory is adequate - most people still prefer flash memory mp3 players for jogging, or working out so this will work. Also the MegaBass was always extremely sweet from Sony Walkmans! Love the headphones.
EDGE/GPRS Class 10 - does this mean that GPRS is class 10; and EDGE is supported, but not mentioning the class is buggin me. I could use this phone as a bluetooth modem for my desktop or laptop; if class 10 EDGE. Guess that multiple huge thread complaining for more EDGE in their phones is slowly paying off, thanks SE for listening!
850Mhz band is extremly important to us in NA; especially in Canada. Rogers is the only provider that offers EDGE, and although they have 850/1900Mhz bands they only give EDGE on 850Mhz. Also 850Mhz gives us wider coverage reception.
The z520 only has VGA camera + caller lights - big deal (rolly eyes); nothing really over the Z500a except 4x more memory. not enough to upgrade. |

I like this phone and the 256mb is substantially more than this phones sister model the S600.
I think this phone would do very well as my next phone if they release it soon on the american networks. I am due for an upgrade and I am leaving the country in around 6 months. Having a nice new phone before I go would be great.

Unlike W600, Z520 is a quad band phone.

W600 supports changeable Style-Up faceplates, so you can change the color if you don't like the orange one.

photos of the S600 and W600.
IMO memory is too small, stereo speakers are a nice touch though. |

sony ericsson is really losing in terms with design with every model they release - the only models that i count as great designs are the t610 and v600 - i don't know who is designing their phones but i don't understand what they are doing, not only the design is going backward also the quality is going backward (best example w600)
where is the guy that designed the t68 and t610 ?
i wouldn't wounder if he went to B&O... |

No expandable memory....... I've said it before, American's are ignorant to cell phone technology. The reason for non-expandable memory is, because americans could care less about memory cards.
The mentality is: A phone is simply to make phone calls. Anything extra, is accepted as nice features. This frustrates me.
Hence why there is not a demand for phones with all the bells and whistles.
I need all the technology I can get in a phone. I don't care to pay a little more if I can get all the tools I need.
Not all Americans think like I do.

I couldn't agree with you more. As I've said before most people in the US still think their service provider actually made their handset.
I have a stupid question, Is the w600 a swivel or a slider? It's probably a swivel, but I've only seen it either opened or closed.

@obsixx
Thank you for understanding where I am coming from.
Ocasionally I will ask someone that I hear is going to upgrade a phone.
I'll say -- " Are you getting EDGE, BT , how much MB " ?
The response usually is...... " What do I need that for " ?
Hence, why there is not a demand in the U.S. for phones with all the good perks.
I have an S710 which I love. I do need a play phone as a back up.
My mind is leaning towards the W800 ( Love the specs... )
SE if your listening... add EDGE to phones like K750, W800, P series
The W600 may end up being a great phone after all.

@ S4k1s
Thanks, I thought it was a swivel, but I wasn't sure.
@ REO
Hang in there, It's tough times for the American cellphone enthusiast right now.

I'm agreed with you REO, most of the americans just want a good looking phone for their belts.
