finally, somebody is the same boat as i am.
I am also having problems with the handset volume of K750i (in-call session). The volume seems to be lower than any of my other SE phones!! I just can't believe sometime I could not hear the conversation cleary, even though I put the volume to the MAX while on the line. Sometime, I just pressed the phone harder against my ear to hear the conversation properly!
I just updated the K750i with the latest firmware, but the handset volume still seems to be lower than I expect although I can hear a little difference (a little louder) after I upgraded the phone to RJ1002, but its still lower than the standard ( i think) and I also hear that the volume on the bluetooth headset SE HBH-660 is noticable louder!
my hearing is fine, i do NOT have hearing problem.
I just hope sony listen to this threats and hope to fix the problem in the future with the next software upgrade!
btw, my phone is from HONG KONG (>*<<*<*)

There has been a slight increase in the ear-piece volume with R1J002 FW but its still not upto the mark. I rarely use my phone without headset for the same reason.
This has been the most frustrating problem with K750i from the day one and I hope SE is listening. |

yep big problem. p series and z1010 have a earpiece volume during call really loud. k750 sucks. k500, k700, s700 are medium.

Buddy, if the latest FW fixes the earpiece problem for som people and not for you and some others, I believe you have a HW problem rather than a software (the earpiece can be displaced in your unit = easy to fix). I suggest you take a trip and replace it or take it to a service point to check it out.

I wish Sony of America can support me for this matter.
its too bad, they dont have the phone released in USA yet.
so, i guess for now... i can't visit the service center, just wait for another FW upgrades and i hope it will fix the bug.
the reason why i believe its the software issues is because, when i put the SE-K750i onto the service mode, then by going into the test for the handset (earpiece) volume, I can hear that volume-test level sound louder? did anybody tried that yet? or maybe they use such a high-pitched tone to test?

That's interesting. Wonder why the new FW increases the volume on some, but not others. Something SIM related perhaps ?
EDIT:
The fault may not necessary be located in the earpiece it self. There may be other components from the receiver to the earpiece that can be faulty, which of course will not show up with the service mode. So, it can still be a HW fault. Otherwise its difficult to explain why some people experience a big difference and others not when updating the FW.
Just a thought.

I didnt notice a volume increase on mine either.
I dont think its anything to do with the sim, ive used 3 different operator sims in my K750i and its the same on all.

But others have noticed a big difference. Either its in their imagination or there must be a difference. It does not seem to matter what week it was produced. |

i visited my local CPW today and let the sales person listen to my phone and he said the earpiece volume is very low compare to his Orange K750i and he asked me to get a replacement K750i from OSPS. I have got 5 K750i (3 2 return back, 1 sold) only 2 with normal earpiece volume. What the hell is going on SE quality control. |

When I picked up my K750i from CPW a couple of days ago, the handset volume was unacceptably quiet. Even on maximum volume and in a quiet environment I had difficulty hearing the person on the other end.
I updated the firmware that night and the difference was immediately evident. Since the update I have compared it against my old K700i and I would say they are now about the same on the handset, the speakerphone and the headset so in my case it was definitely a firmware issue. |

i updated my replacement k750 on the night after it arrived on Thursday. Even after the firmware upgrade mine erapiece volume is still very very low so mine is more like a hardware issue. |

Well, before upgrading my phone the volume (overall) was lmouder than after the update. I guess we'll just have to wait untill SE bring out a new FW
