Arigatou means 'Thanks'
Arigatou gozaimasu means like 'Thank you very much'.
And then the Japanese people ad words to peoples names.
-kun: for little boys or male friends.
-chan: for little girls or female friends.
-san: for people that deserves more respect like a girlfriend or perhaps someone older than yourself.
-sama: often translated to 'master' or 'boss'.
-domo: said to samurais.

Interesting thread, I didn't know scotsboyuk can speak Japanese.
BTW, "doomo" = much
"arigatou" = thanks
"gozaimasu" is like a formal form of "desu" or the verb BE in english.
"arigatou gozaimasu" is simply a formal "thank you"
ありがとうございます。 (hiragana)
"domo arigatou gozaimasu" is "thank you very much"
どうもありがとうございます。 (hiragana)
the subject and object of a sentence is often ommited (implied) in a normal Japanese conversation that's why you won't see any Japanese translation for the word "you" in the sentence above. FYI.

Let em learn kana first. You should know yourself how hard it is to learn lots of japanese at once. Step by step we gonna teach em chatting on msn and mail. Of course thru inet we cant practice pronounciation, but that should be easily handled if you guys buy cd or something with japanese speech.(not music- songs have very specific gram)
