hey davo, like the diagrams mate on the othere thread...

I Wish they didnt bother branding it at all!
Just say you bought a car, and you fill it up at BP all the time, i'm sure you wouldnt want BP logo's all over it and limited to BP radio and 2nd and 4th gear only

If BP sells you the car with a discount of aproximatly 50%, you would have to put up with it!!, and the only thing that vodafone limit on its branded phones is the mp3 tones....
I dont know why everybody complains so much, if you dont want your phone "tampered with" by vodafone, pay double and get it simfree and with all the original firmware.

I do. Or buy them through o2 [addsig]

All Vodafone Live! enabled phones will be branded Vodafone, the menus are there for the benefit of Vodafone Live! users so they will eventually get a similiar menu system regardless of the brand of phone they they buy in the future.

Just like the old Nokia menus. Everyone was used to them and didn't want to move to Sony Ericsson etc. because of that. Vodafone, in fact all the operators want that kind of loyalty.

And in the future the phones will be branded as Vodafones by Sony Ericsson etc., just like in Japan. It is moving that way slowly outside of Japan. Note the V800 and F500i models, they are exclusive to Vodafone. Other operators are doing this as well, and soon the emphasis will be on the operator rather than the phone maker.

You may not like the colours, but it's Vodafone's corporate colours so let's face it. Vodafone isn't going to use anything else! The menus are not slower, you are being stupid. They are only slower when the menus access WAP for their options (such as for Vodafone Live!), all options in the firmware aren't any slower.

You're going to get the same from T-Mobile, Orange, O2, Virgin etc. with the branding soon. In fact, most of these operators already stick their logo on all their phones (with the exception of O2 who are a little behind, but I suspect it's because they are waiting to be bought out).

It sounds like a vodafone employee has arrived!

Whatever the networks do, they are doing it for their own benefit/profits not thinking about the customers. And we will always be able to buy simfree handsets or flash the software.

As i said before its like Ford selling cars that only fit BP fuel pumps and have it written all over them. and then limit you into only playing BP CD's/radio.

Cophia: I salute your loyalty to Voda!but the fact is that we don't really give a monkeys about why voda and other networks brand their phones.I would easily pay double to just so that my phone isn't spray painted with voda graffiti.

Exactly, they make some really nice looking handsets. And Voda dont NEED to put their logo on it! [addsig]

I have an unbranded K700i and have seen both Orange branded K700i and Vodafone branded K700i.
Here is my point... If all phones look similar (as someone said), then where goes the implementation of new, clever ideas of interfaces?
I have a question for the person who defends Vodafone... Before unbranding my K700i it was branded Vodafone. I HAD 1000 WAYS OF ACCESSING TO VODAFONE LIVE! As if they wanted me to stumble on it everytime I went in some menu (key on the welcome screen, joystick up, specific Icon in menu, games, sounds.. and on and on...).

BUT HEY!!!!!!!!!!

WHERE CAN I CHANGE THE PROFILE WHEN I AM IN A MEETING WITH THE VODAFONE LIVE! SUPER COOL SOFTWARE! Sorry I'm using capital. But I am trying to make a point.
All phones will look the same way, will have wap access all over the phone (they make lots of $$ on it) but clever, more business like functions will disappear.
And, what I find personally most disturbing, phones software will be designed in a way that even a 2 year old boy will be able to use wap because he will stumble on it, sacrificing thus the shortcuts and keys that could be used otherwise.

All this Vodafone Live! software is soooooo redundant and sooooooooo oriented to the wap connection it makes me wanna and makes me feel treated like a dumb person.
If I want to access WAP Vodafone Live! I know where to go, and I hate being trapped into going there.

By the way, the Orange version of the K700i has the three little icons on the welcome screen which are not bad at all as an idea. And personally it looks a little less "branded" and not so redundant.

I hope I was clear enough (at least that since I know I wasn't concise at all...)

Boo hoo we have the choice of operators from whom we can by unbranded, unlocked, locked, branded or any combination of and yet its still under warranty.

Cry me a river.

Here we don't have a choice, the only decent GSM choice is Voda and you guys have FAR better plans via other provides than we get here. (Don't even think about data lol) The only other provider is just re-selling Vodafones network because they don't have their own.

Here if you want unbranded, you also go un warrantied, since its Voda or parallel imported.

Really I would spare a moments silence for whingers about voda branding but the facts are you have a choice, if they aren't loyal to you as a customer, go elsewhere, make your money do your talking. Make other networks give you a deal. But you're really not that hard off at all.

Recent live! efforts on the phone aren't actually as bad as they used ot be, the worst are STILL the T610 and the K700i which look fugly.

Some of them have terrible branding. Orange as just as bad too - my friend cannot use MP3s, shortcuts and send ringtones from his Orange branded K700i.

That's a load of rubbish, Cannot use Mp3's yes you can.

Anyway, the Silver one looks very nice in my opinion, I cannot wait to attempt to get my hands on one of these phones.

I have to agree with anyone complaining about branding of any kind.

networkoperators have to understand that most customers couldent care less about the operators. Forget the idiotic loyalty question.
Forget operator brand loyalty. Networkoperators are a nescesary evil, nothing else. I dont care who my networkoperator is, as long as I get delivered what I pay for, and only what I deside to pay for.
All your commercial live crap etc. have one purpose only, to generate traffic and $$$. Naturally I dont want to have your stupid restrictions or changes to the specific phone I have chosen to buy for reasons desided by me, naturally I dont want your stupid shortcuts everywhere trying to trick me into stupid expensive wap services, naturally I would never buy an mp3 ringtone from you when I can make them for free myself and naturally I dont want you to try and force me to, I dont want your graphics everywhere, or your changes to the operating system like the mp3 restriction or shortcut changes etc etc.

The idea of the customer just buying a service or a function and thus does not care which hardware is used and therefore standardising all handsets to look alike is nonsense and only a networkoperators wet dream. This is only to minimize costs for the operator. I havent ever met any real live person who did not want to have their own saying on which car they drive, which phone they use, what television to buy, what close to wear, which furnitures to use etc etc. People dont just want a function, people are not robots, we dont just want to keep warm, we want to deside what close to wear, we dont just want functions, we want products, products to distinquise who we are as persons, products for status, products to make our lives more fun or interesting or whatever reason. We want individualisme.

I am an adult, I choose a specific phone for good reasons and after carefull consideration. Under no circumstances do I want network operators to tell me how my phone should look, or function, or which services I am able to use.

Fortunetely I do live somewhere where I can choose to buy totally unbranded and unlimited - and I will allways do that no matter what contractoffers networkoperators may spring on me.

i thawt u get branded phones for very cheap compared to the unbranded price rite? or maybe soemtimes even free?
am i right?

well if i am right, i think the company is totally justified in branding the phone, customizing its firmware, etc etc...

the logos on the phone work as advertising for the company...
so du the wap shortcuts, etc..

how can anyone who gets a phone for much less than the unbranded price, expect it to be the same as the unbranded features....

then again, if im wrong bout gettin it for cheaper, then this branded thing is total s#%&

i dont kno bout these branded schemes, here in india the operators dont brand phones...we have to buy the phone separately ourselves...

but branded phones, which are brought from abroad and unlocked are available, for cheaper (illegitimately), than the ones sold legitimately in the country....

why do people feel the need to repeat all this stuff EVERY time the word VODAFONE is mentioned?

I must have read these same posts in a hundred different threads

at the end of the day you pay your money and you make your choice! because these companies are unlikely to change their ways for the forseeable future

my choice is always unbranded and I am sure I pay normal prices for that rather getting them a little cheaper
