I guess its a matter of taste. Symbian is very fast on e.g. 7650,..it works very well. Its built for "phone-use".
7650 is using Symbian V6.1
P-800 is using the newer platform V7.

These devices run totally different variations of Symbian platform. 7650 uses Pearl and P-800 Quartz (UIQ).

SE will be giving the SDK for the P800 for free too once the P800 is out on the market. The current SDK is for beta-testers and commercial app development. Free/shareware programs will and can be developed with the free SDK soon.
Pearl and Quartz are just the names of the GUI... The P800 is using a newer OS than the 7650. BTW, the name Quartz has been dropped. UIQ is the name of the GUI used on the P800, NOT the OS |

Like I said, a different variation of Symbian platform. UIQ is for pen-based devices and Pearl is for devices with a keypad input. Also Pearl is designed for 1/8 VGA screen size and UIQ for 1/4 VGA screen size. |
