Ok, I give up! Surely a V3 doesn't have more sophisticated encryption than a P910i??!!!
Congrats, masseur, on getting it to work - hopefully the rest of us will eventually be so lucky, when someone pulls their finger out and looks into this problem.
Will certainly make the suggestion, madbob - after all, it can't hurt, and maybe they'll get the message that there's a few of us who are affected.

@dave_uk, sorry to rub salt into the wound but it actually worked first time on the V3
but I haven't given up with the K700 its just a matter of finding time to tweak the settings and play around and I don't give up so easy

@masseur
good luck and certainly let us know if you have any success, but I've literally tried every conceivable combination on the P910i several times and I'm convinced there's a fundamental access problem on the handsets, a belief which is enforced by the fact that [b]no-one[b] on this forum has yet managed to get it to work!
Oh well.....
edit: Just had a look at my colleague's V3 and guess what? It has SSL! I'm thinking my original theory is still correct.

It works with the new version of ProfiMail (1.23). I know that means you need a third party app, but nevertheless it works! |

Sending is no problems as SMTP seems to work fine. It's the retreving parts that everyone is having trouble with. Not just here but on most other forums. So don't feel too bad.

Try to put IPs instead normal address (maybe the dns server is not configured or?).. Ping the pop and smtp addresses and write their ip in your email client

Could have sworn I read it on this thread but I guess not. All you frustrated Pxxx users, download Profimail v1.23 from my-symbian (which supports SSL) and Gmail works fine. I've done it. I think, eventually, you have to register it but I haven't yet. BTW changing the DNS address to the IPs revealed by pinging the pop/smtp servers makes no difference - it just won't work with the default email client at all.
