well I like the design you are coming up with, but it is much more about learning to use layers, masks and blending options to make things look right. I also happen to have a graphics tablet which makes detail work much easier since I am using a pen instead of a mouse.

try this site http://www.good-tutorials.com/

just use their search feature or browse around for what you are looking for. Some of the tutorials show you very poor ways to do things in my opinion, but at least they'll get you started and learning how to use all the features.

There's a free piece of software which you can download from the below link on which your can do photoshop type editing its called the gimp!

Screenshot

The GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages.

smaller tablets can be reasonably priced around $200-$300 and can be found at compusa, frys and the apple store. Tablets aren't for everyone though, I suggest you becom familier with whatever editing program you are using long before you consider that big of an investment.

@axxxr I've heard some good things about that program and its good that there is a free alternative out there.

I use microsoft image editor, easy and simple to use.
Photoshop has all of those icons - I'll never remember what they are!
Elle - "...Which in the very near future, will be my sword"
Bea - "Bitch, you dont have a future..."
Bea - "... What did you say to Pai Mey to make him snatch out your eye?"

I haven't come across an image that screamed for me to change it into something . If you find something I'd be glad to help though.
