This is so annoying. We shouldnt have to wait this long.
Another 3 months time I'll be due an upgrade. I have'nt even had time to play with my P900 yet to choose weather I'll keep it or sell it and my K700i and get either an S700 or an XDA2.

After 4 days waiting for a response I decided to ring them again and demanded an explaination. They told me that my 'replacement' has had to be sent back to the manufacturer as it didnt mee their quality assurance tests. Looks like another 2 months wait.
Got to take my K700i in for R2L software upgrade today. Hope I dont have to wait 2 months for that rr: They should have it done within the hour.

Hey
I'm a agent for solectron , i'm the person you talk to when you call 1 866 766 9374 or the older numbers.
P900 parts and phones are on backorder, we NEVER get any ETA's on these items.
if you give me your RMA numbers, I can look it up for you. as long as you mailed it to north carolina!

I didnt mail it anywhere. I took mine into my service centre who then discovered major faults on the phone and they sent it to the manufacturer. The replacement I was supposed to be getting has also been sent back because it didnt pass any of the service centres quality assurance tests.
They said it will probably take the same ammount of time to recieve another replacement. Should think we should get some form of compensation for the long wait.
R2L software upgrade went well in my K700i though. Only took an hour and I also got unlimited complimentry tea or coffee while waiting

Miscalibrated screen; the screen registered taps about 1/4" lower than where I actually tapped. This continued after manually calibrating the screen myself. SE was aware of the problem and took the phone without complaint. I wanted to send this in months ago, but I wanted a new phone first AND I moved offices. Finally got my T610 (for $70!) and got settled in my new office, so I sent it away.
I checked the status online and it is listed as "Work in Progress". I guess that means they are fixing it. We'll see.

OK - I just checked the status of my P900's repair and the website is reporting that it is being shipped back to me. When attempting to track the package, FedEx reported that they are not yet in possesion of my phone. I assume that a label has been generated and that it will be picked up from Solectron today.
When I get it back I will post the results of the repair. I will be royally pissed if nothing has been done.
(I left the screen protector on so I would know if they installed a new screen; it should come back without a screen protector. If they did not change out the screen, I am curious to know what they did to repair my phone. I guess we'll see.)
EDIT: My P900 was picked from Solectron, Inc. at 4:07pm EST today. It is a 2-day shipment. I should recieve it by Friday afternoon.

OK - I am really really pissed off. I received my phone this morning, and nothing has been done. No, I take that back - they upgraded the firmware on my P900, but that is all.
I have not turned it on yet as I do not have the battery or battery cover with me, so the firmware upgrade *might* have solved the problem. But I doubt it. This has been happening through the last three firmware upgrades I have performed myself. I don't see how Solectron doing this would change things.
I got a letter from Solectron stating the following:
Dear Valued Sony Ericsson Customer,
We tested your phone and were unable to duplicate the problem you described. However, we installed the latest version of the software on your phone and this may resolve your issue entirely.
Sometimes problems are encountered that are not due to the functioning of the phone but instead may be related to network coverage or features supported by your service provider. Please contact your service provider to obtain further assistance.
Thanks,
Sony Ericsson - Repair Facility
Holy shit, I am pissed. I clearly explained to the customer service agent that this problem did not happen all the time, but that it did cause me a lot of problems when it did happen. (I often cannot 'click' on links in Opera, and when I select an application in the application list many times it chooses the next one down on the list.)
This is wholly unacceptable. I will wait to call the customer service line until I have a chance to play with the phone and see if the problem persists.
I have already vowed never to buy another SE again, so this isn't all that serious of an issue afterall. I have been disappointed by every SE product since Sony and Ericsson combined their mobile phone efforts, so this is no suprise.
I will post the results of my next conversation with customer service as soon as it happens.

Well Ricky you are not alone. Same here after 2.5mo they sent it back to me and did not do didely squat on it. About same letter could not duplicate bla, bla, bla. Even it happens all the time and it is visible on the screen. However, I got a call from an SE guy last Monday and he promised, that they will send me a brand new phone. I sent mine back two days ago and are waiting for the new one. I will let you know when I will receive it and if it is bug free.

Yeah, they did nothing. The firmware has been flashed, but I think it is the same version I had before I sent it away anyway. There is a "Demo" application present which was not there before, and the "Hole in One" mp4 file is back. They definately flashed the phone.
But that is all. The problem is not fixed. I called Customer Service and was told that they could generate a new RA if I wanted them to, but that the screens are on back order and if I sent it in immediately, they couldn't guarantee a 7-10 day turnaround.
I told them I am pissed, and that I am not impressed with their customer support in the least. They told me to call back in about 2 weeks to see if the screens were in stock and they would generate a new RA for me based on the possibility of a Damaged Screen, and that they would replace the screen whether the problem could be duplicated or not (yeah right).
We'll see what happens.
