Here's a link to Cingular's plans for this years GSM expansion. The rest of their markets should be covered by the end of next year. I use Cingular's network and think that it is great. It's nice to see GSM being adopted throughout the states.

Hi, I'm based in Los Angeles, I have a T68 and use Cingular. I'm very unhappy with the coverage here -- you can't drive far off the freeway before you lose the signal in many places. I'm hoping for better coverage with ATT, but I guess it'll probably take a while.
Anyway, it's cool to hear from other T68 people around this part of the world.

Hello all,
I live in New York City and I currently have a Motorola v66 with Voicestream. I just ordered a T68i and am waiting on that. I've been with Voicestream for a few years now, and must say that I am extremely happy with them. The sevice is outstanding and I get a GRPS signal almost 98% of the time. Sometimes I get the anoying 'Network Busy' message, but that has decreased in recent months.
Unfortunately, I am a high school student and am graduating next week, so when I go off to college (Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA - MIDDLE OF NOWHERE!), I might have to get a new service provider. I got no Voicestream signal anywhere. They have a local GSM provider called 'Connestoga' (They provide webhosting, digital pcs, DSL service - LOL!). I hope Voicestream upgrades their operations near my university, AHH!!!!
Anyway, I love Voicestream and will probably stay with them for a while. I can't wait to get my T68i since many say that the Motorola V66 has terrible reception, but I have found it to have great reception - imagine the T68i! |

I live in the DC area, and have Voicestream. I'm very happy with them, BUT the phones do not work on the METRO! Other carriers do. |

bsiegler, since you live in the DC area, I was wondering if you would answer a question for me. I've heard that since there are so many diplomats and foreign visitors there, that phones of all frequency (1800, 900, 1900 MHZ) works there, is that true? If it is, what a great place to live, since all the best phones don't make it to America, except the T68 |

I've bought and tested out most of the GSM phones in NY and Miami (VoiceStream) since 1998. I always felt badly that my T68m was outpaced by the Motorola P280, which I would not use (once you have color, you never go back!). And this was no secret. The VS guys go around testing GPRS and tweaking the system based on the P280 (and I think the Samsung as well), because up until recently, it was the best phone they had.
I can now say that the T68i I got performes perfectly on VS, with good, fast, reliable GPRS, and great reception!

Well, I just joined the discussion group after reading it for a few days and I need to get my posts in. I'm in Chicago with AT&T and so far things are going well. The reception is about the same as AT&T's older service (I forget what it is called). As far as the phone goes I'm now officially the "Gadget Geek" of the office with my T68, my Palm 505 and Palm keyboard out on my desk. |
