Jah...how did you order it?
Did you do the UK Orders Nochex bit? (because it seems to be somewhat cheaper as they have stocks in the UK - cheaper delivery etc)
or did you just do a straight direct from HK order? |

Gosh! :|
What kind of music you guys listening to, to have blown your poor little headphone speakers? Some song enhanced with top secret government researched form of bass or something? I listen to a lot of Lange and Tiesto on my P800 full bore. Headphones are still fine. :| |

The essential problem here seems to be:
1) We all want our quality headphones for music
2) We all want the mic for uninterrupted phone use
The answer requires a soldering iron and a steady pair of hands (don't try this with a hangover or on the back of a hyper-caffeine binge . If it's been a while since you've done close wiring work, you may want to try this on your second best pair of headphones.
Snip the earbuds off with a pair of wirecutters, leaving the three-band minijack, microphone and microswitch on the wire. Remove the covers from your headphones. Locate the incoming wires (there are usually three) and snip them away. Remove the wires from the headphones.
Run the Sony Ericsson wires through the same path where the headphone wires went, and BEFORE you solder anything use alligator clips or duct tape to attach them well enough to get a connection.
There are three wires coming out of the line that need to be soldered in the three places you've snipped wires away from. Which goes where?
Since they were never designed to come apart, there's no colour coding and you just have to experiment with wire placement until you've got stereo and the left-right channels playing correctly. (Old hippies recommend the opening sound effects from the Dark Side of the Moon -- the helicopter flies overhead left to right... umm, what was I talkin' about, man? Oh, yeah...) You have to do some acrobatics to get this right, since you can't really put the headphones on or your connections will probably fail. Persist. It's worth it.
Carefully solder those suckers in place. They're hair-thin, it ain't easy. But when you're finished, you have something on your head that doesn't make your music sound like it's being played in a tuna tin, and which you don't have to take off to take or make a call. Nirvana.
This is also useful if, like me, you just can't wear earbuds and need an over-the-ear headphone.
Here endeth the lesson.
