Its the same damn thing with a 65k screen and updated OS so I probably wont upgrade,I just want UIQ 2.1 on my P800.....And im sure there will be a way to do it.
I noticed replacement screens for the P800 are like $150 at globalmob.com,maybe they'll sell the P810/900 screen as well then I can have a 65k screen on my P800!

The P800 screen can not display more then 4096 colours! It is a different screen and chip!

I find this very difficult to believe how do you know?I never see screens at least the computer industry that have this limitation. All the screens even if the cards show 256 colours back then can support true colour so why this screen cant?

well to be honest I am guessing!

so your telling me:

black and white screens really have 16million colours! but they cant afford the chip and only give you two colours.

My laptop has 16million colours and the P800 can prduce the same amount of colours if it had a different chip

and

I am working off the theory that like a computer screens when they first came out they first had 16 colour screens and improved. When making mass production I can see a company make 1million screens at different levels(4096 and 65K) and SE say:

"Yeah no problem, we will pay the extra $10 a screen for the 65K, but only let them have 4096 colors and we will buy a 1million of the suckers and waste $10million."

cant see if happening! but I am only guessing but I am 99.9999999999% sure!

POLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

zen master how long are in computer industry my friend im in computers almost 25 years since childhood i have all the comp from the start even back then the amiga can produce only 4096 colours but the monitor shows true colour and i use it as tv along with my video i dont play smart here dont get me wrong and im not talking about black and white as you said earlier, the tech of true colour its very old in screens they have apbsolutely no point to build a screen capable to show only 4096 colour the cost is the same they dont envest some new tec here they only change the inside chip and nothing more .of cource and the resolution of the screen but the p810 is the same res because it uses the same screen.

PS : we are a little of topic here but since its yours i guess it ok
by the way very cool occupation man

Really!!!!

Like I said I was not 100% sure. but I thought there are:

STN (Super Twisted Nematic) screens use LCDs slow to respond to image changes so don't display video well. Used mainly by low-end phones, they can display 256, 4,096, and 65,000 colors.

TFT (Thin Film Transistor) screens use LCDs and are just like screens on notebook computers and LCD monitors. They have high power consumption but can display beautiful images in 4,096, 65,000, and 260,000 colors. They repond quickly to image changes and display videos very well.

TFD (Thin Film Diode) screens use LCDs and are equivalent to TFT LCD screens in many respects but have lower power consumption. These screens display 65,000 colors.

OELD (Organic Electro Luminescence Display) are the latest screens, and emit their own light without the use of backlight. They can display videos and have low power consumption, but current versions have a short lifespan of 10,000 hours or so and can only display 1, 4, and 256 colors.

So I was under the impression that there are different types of screens that you can buy! I am fully aware that a very good screen can down grade itself and act like a not so good screen display.

So tell me why does the above have different colour displays and not just show one number of colour, eg the TFT can display 4,096, 65,000, and 260,000 colours, why not just say 260,000 because we know if it can produce that many it can produce a number less!

Yeap the tft screens are new in compare to the regular but as you see all the above have the 65k barrier thats why i say the p800 screen are capable of 65k and only the inside chip is different and im a little carried away and speak for the regular screens Im not sure what screen sony pick for their phones (i guess the low power though
) but im pretty sure that the p810 has the same screen as p800 thats why the name occurs its a slightly update phone and not a new one.
And if you see the photos and videos of p810 its exactry the same dimensions as p800 scr and the same bluish feeling when the light is on.

I step down!

I should just stick to riding my bike, listen to MP3 while riding and taking photos of the mountain views. God I love this phone!!

After riding a 22km mountain to 1850m above sea level and just sit there in peace checking my emails!! Thats why I love this phone!

I will, if I get to sell my P800 before the warranty expires. I have until December this year to decide. It will depend on 3 things-

1)Sell current P800 before end of the year so new buyer will still have warranty

2)Availability of P810/P900

3)Price range of P810/P900
