Yes, but he meant that SE firmware upgrades are more important to get 'cause they are real 'bugfixes'. I object to this though! A girl I know was the owner of a 8310 five months since its international release. There was a HUGE bug in the voice recorder…

(continued) …meaning that recording was equal to overwriting the phone's firmware! I don't think SE ever released a phone that's able to overwrite its own firmware by voice recordings…

Nokia phones are bulky. SE are like wearing a suit. And i don't like wearing suits.

I am sorry, your point escaped me here. Are you implying that you like bulky, or that you like nokia?

I just cannot understand how people go out, spend 820+ euros and buy p800, which does not have good camera, no video, full of bugs and is very fragile. If I would spend 800 euros for a phone, the phone would be the best for the next 2 years. And some people (including myself) compare directly 3650, which is half price, wih p800.

You are not really trying to say that 3650 will be "the best" for the next two years, are you? Because we all know, that in a matter of months nokia will release a new successor. That's just the way nokia works. You complain about frequent firmware updates from ? Well nokia has apparently choosen another path - they release new phones instead of fixing the bugs in the current ones.

Quote:

T610 is a crap phone. VERY bad camera, no 640x480 images, no memory card, no java, but because it is good-looking people buy it. And then they cry out for java applications, and firmware upgrades and things like that.

Since we are on to "real life" examples here, please do name some nokia phones WITH VGA camera or memory card. If you are about to say 3650 - don't. We are not on a subject of smart phones now. T610 is not a smart phone, so don't compair it to one.
T610 has JAVA, badly implemented? yes. Any nokia phones that got JAVA and mophun?
The implication that I bought my T610 simply because of it's looks is offensive, though I have to admit that looks is exactly why I wouldn't buy a nokia phone. If I wanted to walk around with a brick in my pocket I could have bought a motorolla.

Now, back to real life examples.
Nokia 3310/3350 is the biggest piece of electronic junk I have ever owned. Which would have been beareble had the phone not gotten into a habbit of turning itself off at random intervals during a phone call.

Don't even start me on the features. Before I bought T610, I had T68i. All the phones I had before T68i were nokias. I'll tell you why I suddenly switched to . It wasn't the color screen or the curvy looks. It was the fact that I couldn't find a single nokia phone that would satisfy my needs. Nokia has a bad habit of dividing the features between a million different models. You find some features on one model, some on another, but never all on one. I suppose that's a good way to save money, but it sure didn't make my search for a phone any easier. When I considered it all - the dodgy looks, the terrible production quality, the lack of features - I realized that I had to switch to another manufacturer.

You can boast about the nokia production quality all you want, but the statistics here in norway are clear. 8 out of 10 nokia phones will have to go to service within the first year. The number for other manufacturers is - 3

Sure, got their share of problems, but they provide full featured phones, and when they screw up with the firmware, at least they address the problem and release a firmware update.

I will admit there was the time when nokia was the best. They made good phones. Those times are gone. The last decent phone nokia has produced is the last nokia phone I owned - 8850. Since then, nokia shifted their focus to youth, and they don't need quality phones. They need cheap phones that stand out of the crowd, can play loud ringtones, and send pictures. Well, nokia did a good job there. Even their buisness models have the same tacky, unfinished feel to them.

That's why I choose

ok wrath000, things are getting serious.

1) I like phones that suit my needs, no matter if they are bulky or not.

2) I am not trying to say 3650 will be the best phone for the next 2 years. I would be fool if i did so. I am trying to point out that 3650 is the BEST PHONE for its money. I compare DIRECTLY p800 and 3650, except the bloody and useless for me pda.

3) Don't tell me about t610 because is a complete failure for se. The only good thing about this phone is the display. It costs waaaaaayyyyyyyyy TOO MUCH ( same price with 3650), and offers nice standard pictures.

4) Nokia releases new phones because is ALIVE and kicking. No problems with fimware( not in same way as SE has), good marketing policy, trying to put everything in one phone, like se does. This takes time though, but time is about to finish. Example is the new 6600 which will hit p800 direct between the eyes( and the p810, p820, p900, p12345).

5) Except t610, and p800 all the other phones have 256 colours. Are we stupid or something? on the other hand, 7210, 6610, 7250 and a thousand others have the mighty 4096 colours.

6) 33xx series was a complete failure for nokia but miraclously people liked it!! that's why it sold millions.

7) My previous phone was a t68i.Great phone for that time.Slow but decent.

Nokia yes, targets the youth because the youth switches phones every half year. Not the people after 40 years of age. Goold politics there.

I am trying to tell you people that nokia is waking up from the sleep. T68i was a real backet of water.Let's wait for 6600.

I know that I don't know anything.

I am not really sure how to reply to your post. I don't see a lot of points to address. I see again that you are comparing "directly" 3650 to P800. I can't really comment on that since I don't own a P800, and to be honest don't care much for it. I simply have no need for a PDA be it cheap, expensive, nokia, or sony ericsson.

When I said youth in a previous post, I ment teenagers. Most of the nokia models are aimed against younger masses. They are actually aimed for age groups that don't work, and can't afford to buy a phone, let alone buy new phone every half year. Nokia is constantly shifting this marketing focus to younger and younger masses - take n-gage for example. Now, before the flames start flying, I am not saying ALL nokia models are ment for kids, just a very high percentage (and it's constantly growing).

As for your T610 bashing, I am completely in the dark. You claim it's a complete failure for . Care to explain why? What is it you don't like about it? Good interface? 65k screen? 32 note poly? Mophun? Java? BlueTooth? The great design? The fact that it's the most feature packed phone on the market? Does this phone constantly score at the top of the line-ups because of it's looks? I don't think so.

Nokia, on the other hand is dropping rapidly in all reviews. Sure you can find a decent nokia phone, but if you want it ALL, you'll have to look elsewhere. Yes, nokias are cheap, but... you get what you pay for, the last year nokia models have tought us that.

You say nokia is constantly releasing new phones because it's alive and kicking, I say they do it because they just can't get it right. ...or perhaps it is their marketing strategy. It make sense in a way:
1. Make a phone that barely measures up to todays standarts.
2. In a few months the phone will be obsolete, people would have to get a new one.
3. Make sure that the new model availble is the bare minimum as well, to lock the customers in the vicious circle
4. How to get the customers to change their phones frequently? Cut down on price
5. How to cut down on price? Cut down on quality. The phone would be changed for a new model soon anyway, so no point building a phone that will last long. Hence 8 out of 10 nokias will go to service during the 1st year.

I will answer firmly tomorrow because it's late.Just this-a company in Greece offered to its employees the t610,only for 100 euros. And the company has many-many employees. After asking, the employer said that se have a lot of stock and they smashed the price for obvious reasons.

1. That's your choice! Nokia sure has enough models to suit almost
anyone! But when I searched for a good color phone without the
tacky design most Nokias have (almost all look the same with minor
changes) I came up up with T610...!!! I had always been a Nokia
fan and said to everyone that Ericsson had good technology but
sucked in the user friendlyness and lacked fun features..
Nokia simply didn't have a single phone that could match T610 in
design, features & price!!! Even if you don't like the design no
Nokia has the features at it's price!
And nowadays SonyEricssons phone are even more fun than Nokias!
T610 has the best looking menu of any phone.. Not including any
smartphones!

2. Nokia 3650 the best smartphone?!?!? You must be kidding???
It's nice HUGE (pardon my french)!!! And the design SUCKS!!!
How can anyone use this phone for anything else other than a
camera??? If you want a digital camera you can buy a cheaper
and better real camera & a real working smaller phone for less!

Check out the P810/P900 which will probably have 1.3Mpixel camera
and be alot smaller & lighter...

3. T610 is not a failure to me.. It's feature set is the best in the
business... It's not the perfekt phone in any way! It has it's gripes
as any phone has.. Mainly it's display! Which you strangly praise as
it's only good feature...
When I upgraded the firmware in my t610 it has become virtually
bugfree..

4. Don't kid yourself! Nokia doesn't release new phones because they
are "ALIVE & KICKING" as you state.. They want to make money!
Simple as that.. They know that the masses want new stuff all the
time.. So they shuffle all their features to 20-30 different looking
phones... And releases and rereleases new models with the same
features at a steady pace... Almost no development cost and BIG
profits...
There is nowhere to test your phones as in the real life.. Giving FREE
bugfixes & new features to a one year old model is a good thing I
think? (T68i example)

5. This hard to compare as Nokia has around 15 models with 4096
colors and NONE with 65536 yet... But your never better than the
best your selling So I think T610 has the best display! Until 6600
is released anyway... But THREE times as expensive as T610!

6. The 33xx series was a fantastic phone when it was released!
It had all the needed features back then.. The only bad thing was
it's slow menus and SMS writing (more than 50 chars)...
The changable cover made the phone a little quirky at times..
But on the whole a good phone.. I actually still have my trusted
3330 as a backup phone...

7. When u try t610 other phones without many colors looks dated!
This is sad but true!
A friend of mine has got a t68i I personally love the design.. But
the menus and sms writing is dreadfully slow.. Compared to t610!
And T610 is no speed demon...

8. Yes the youth! So does Ericsson nowadays... But at what price?
Yes you can have a phone with many colors and other tacky stuff.
But Nokia phones which are cheap hasn't got any features!
Look at the 3510i for an example.. Yes it has got MMS and 4096
colors.. Ok you think? But the resolution of the display is so low
the pictures looks worse than a Ericsson 256 color display...
Also 3510i looks old!!! It has almost the same design as 3210 had
3.5 years ago...
Ericssons cheapest color phone T310 has got a good feature
set... Incl. IrDA, MMS, EMS, WAP, GPRS, 32-poly...

The t610 a failure because of its price? You for real? Its rival, the 7250i is £80 MORE sim-free in any uk high street, and it doesn't offer half the features of a t610. Now the question is, why is a more advanced phone, the 3650 so cheap? Nokia realising no c*nt would be seen dead with one?

in you get value for your money...all the features in one phone.

unlike in nokia, features are replaced by another on a certain phone.
