Nothing new to report I'm afraid - I haven't had any chance to do anything on it for the last few weeks due to holiday and now work pressures. I've got some days off over the coming weeks though so I'll be doing stuff then unless it is hot outside! Will keep you posted, but I'm slow. As soon as something is stable and shows some functionality I'll probably release a pre-alpha or something but I can't say when.

Cheers for the support anyways, I'll let you know...

Errr, no not really I'm afraid, although did manage for the first time to actually get the friggin program to run on my actual P800!! I used a wizard written by a guy riksa off the my-symbian forum which worked a treat - if your here riksa, cheers for the excellent tool and guide - I was totally screwed before and couldn't get it to work.

In terms of the actual app, I've got Friday off work so unless it is blazing sun, I'll be working on it then. Don't expect to see a "working" version soon however, the extraction of the call records looks like being a nightmare using Java - I'll release a version that "demos" some functionality as soon as I can.

I know I keep saying this, but you're gonna have to bear with me, I don't get alot of time for this!

Hello mate. We know you have a few problems. Have you managed to solve them? Is production continuing?

Hi, sorry haven't posted about any more progress for a while. I've actually been getting on with it a bit more this week (and I'm actually doing it now!). I'm still busy building the GUI and doing alot of work on the tariff/usage mapping engine. It's coming together slowly, but yes, the key problem of extracting call records remains. I know needs to be accessed to do this, but not clue how to do it yet.

Basically, my plan is to shelve this for the moment and build the rest of the app from the extraction point onwards. I've built in a small simulator screen where you can "pretend" to make a call by putting in the details (date, time, type, direction, detination, duration, etc) and this gets logged as would happen from the extraction process. Hopefully if I can build the rest and release something that proves the concepts then it might tempt some other developers to help out with the JNI/C++ area of things. Once the rest is ready, I will release a alpha version which doesn't work but with the simulator people can do alot of testing to iron out bugs. All that is need then is to add the extraction part to so the same job as the simulator with the real details.

Progress is continuing, and I've been putting in more effort over the last week or two, but it is turning into a very complex beast. Every day I think of a new thing that needs to be added to the list of to-dos. I appreciate some people that some people would just like to see a simple version to start with, but I have to build in the capabilities to do model complex tariffs otherwise extending it later will be a nightmare!

I'll try to keep regular updates, and BTW, is anyone willing to host a few pictures on some webspace. By the end of next week I should have some views of the GUI that will give an idea of the functionality, but no time to set up a website at the moment. Post here, PM or mail me at mail@julianmclean.com if you can do this. Cheers.

Right, back to struggling with friggin java GUI layouts...
