I dont think it is a sylus sprayed, as if you look at the 3 ridge bars on the stylus you will notice that they are different to the standard stylus. Mine has 3 "chevrons" for grip, not straight lines.

Whatever it is it isn't a standard stylus painted (unless there is more than 1 design).

Dont you people realise that when you say stupid stuff like "its a normal one sprayed gold" your just showing everyone that your the kind of person who couldnt even begin to craft something with your hands, & therefore assume everyone else is as uncapable as you.
EVERYTHING has to be made by SOMEONE (even cast stuff) which has to be made from a mould has to be made by hand by someone first, to get the mould.
EVEN CARS have to be carved out of a solid block to get the shape correct before a mould is taken, so just accept it, the guy MADE it out of a Gold ring.

I don't pretend to diss or say that i know anything about gold
anyway my first guess was that it isn't gold becuase
1) it is too expensive
2) i have never seen gold with that shimmery rainbow like reflection
3) decay at the top of the stylus on the 3rd picture
but then again why should i say it isn't when you say it is... good luck and i really like the idea of having an aluminium version where it stiff light and stays clean

I can't believe such disrespectful comments vented towards vowless. Just because he's good with his hands and had a spare gold ring seems to have made many people on here jealous in some way and to disrespect his sharing of such an interesting story with this board.

Of course it's real.

Anyway, I'm the guy that's having them made in bulk in Singapore in .925 silver and they will be available in three weeks. No price as yet but they won't be at all unaffordable. They will be on eBay and available through some online outlets, but email me if you're interested and I'll let you know price and delivery. The guy making them is my brother-in-law and he's a professional goldsmith. We might do gold if there's any demand.

Thanks,

Hey Guys thanks a lot for the positive feedback,you know...all I wanted to do was to share with my fellow P800 owners something special that I had tried out and it's amazing the passionate positive and negative comments that have come back, some people think what they want to think, some people are genuinely interested, but thanks once again for your comments.

And just to wrap up all those who disbelieve - the stylus IS made out of my old gold ring (I was going to sell it to a jewellers, although they told me that I would get £10 for it - that is not expensive!!!), it was hammered and filed and then finished using an electric polisher, that is why it looks the way it is (it isnt perfectly smooth - hand finished with a file, then it is highly polished to give that lustre, there is no decay, thats just my camera having problems with the macro setting on such a close picture!).

If someone wants to spray paint a standard stylus then good for them, all the better I say, make your P800 tailored for YOU. Me, I wanted a heavier stylus and so made one out of an old cheap gold ring - Im a computer designer by trade - but thought "well, whats the worst that can happen - so I loose an old ring if it doesn't work" - but it did

It was never meant to be a commercial offering tempting people (that would never work out because each time it would take a lot of effort and time and you could never charge a lot for it!!!) - so that I would make a lot of money - never. If there was a commercial stylus out there - heavier than the standard - then I would have bought that!!

As it is, a fellow P800 owner has asked me if I could transform one of his old silver rings into one - Hmm - I hope I can help him out - if I do, I will take pictures along the way just to show you all how YOU TO can customise your P800.

Kepp up the great work on the P800 everyone...

Cheers,

Simon

@vowless

I think it is great what you did!

For the other people out there, I dont know if vowless thought of this, the stylius is weak and light, if you were to make another heavier and harder one becareful! The way it is attacked to the phone, that little plastic nob that holds it in, make sure the stylius that you make is weaker! So the Stylius breaks before this nob!

vowless made it perfect so it did not break! Luck or he might of thought of it, but he did it.

If you break that nob, you will have to carry a stylius where ever you go!

@P800_Zen_Master

Your absolutely right...I had to be really careful about that little knob on the P800, the gold is quite thin towards the top and almost flat (unlike the standard one), the hole on the stylus has to be just right (very smooth and very thin) to ensure that it doesn't scratch the plastic.

I hope it doesn't ever break ... have to be careful when sliding it in and out of the P800...

Doesn't fit in the slot of course, but for real quality you can't beat the stylus / stylus refils that Cross Pens sell...
