I heard from some reliable source that it will be out end of this month in Sg. Don't know about Malaysia though. I need Chinese input, for the same money, why not!?

I was just thinking about the 4Mb thingy. If the chinese input is in fact true, can we safely assume that the extra 2MB is used for storing the chinese dictionary? I'm just guessing

Note: Those that have been reading esato will have noticed that those who got their non-hissing replacement unit have also noticed that their ringtones got softer... If the new W21 or W23 has the same problem, I would be extremely dissapointed.

Copied from other forums:-

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for contacting Sony Ericsson Customer Care Center.
We appreciate your patience and apologise for the delay in responding
to your e-mail.
With regards to your inquiry, please check if the phone support
Chinese input in the following steps:
1) Go to Settings menu
2) Choose Language
3) Choose Input
If yes, you are holding a T610c which supports Chinese Text Input.
If no, you are holding a T610 which supports T9 Input but it does not
support Chinese Text Input. To enable T9 Input, please go to Settings
menu, Language, T9 Input and select ON.
To enable Chinese Input, please go to Settings menu, Language, Input
and select Chinese.
Please noted that it is not possible to upgrade the phone software
from T610 English software to T610 Chinese software.

I think 4MB is really just a hoax! They are actually replacing English T9 with Chinese Input to save their cost.

Can you please tell me just where exactly do you hear this "hissing" sound? is it when someone calls? or when the phone rings? or whenever sound is emitted by the phone? Its really quite scary but i think some are just exaggerating...i hope im right. thanks

hmm... well i got my T610 on 02/06/03 and the build date is 03W20... the thing is i'm not sure if mine is hiss-ing or not. i noticed that when i used the t610 in a normal environment (ie. background noise and all) i don't hear any apparent hisses. only when i use it in a real quiet place can i hear something like a buzz when the earphone is active.

another thing is when i use the earphone and microphone test in the service tests there's no hiss or buzz at all... maybe this hiss-ing only happens during a call?

was wondering if i should get mine replaced or not... what do you guys suggest?

Anyone here with the T610 using Maxis GPRS? In my case, the GPRS signal just dissapears a few minutes after I switched on the phone making GPRS sessions impossible. So if I wanna use GPRS, I have to reboot the phone. This is retarded.

Here's another problem that I've noticed a few times already. People have been asking why I've switched my phone off when in facts its turned on. So I did a test by calling my handphone and it gave me a caller unavailable! The only way to get out of this "dormant" state is to make a call on the T610. When I do that, I get a sudden surge of sms that people have sent earlier on. This shows that provider cannot 'find' the phone. Urghh..

First it was hissing, then reduced poly tones, now this. I wonder what's next.

psychofreak doesn't seem too happy at what happened at EricServe too.. I wonder what happened.

well i'm using Maxis GPRS on my T610 (activated it yesterday) and it worked fine regardless of how long the phone was on... and the gprs signal always seem to be full... are you sure it's not caused by a weak gprs signal or something?

and the thing about the 'dormant' state doesn't seem to occur on my phone... whenever a call comes in the screen lits up and the caller id appears on the screen. the funny things is i always get the normal ring beep once before the set ringtone starts playing...

well guys..like i said earlier.. i did went to Ericserve 2day... and get mine replaced.....

the hissing problem has been fixed (finally)... they say it was the firmware problem. after checkin the new firmware, i notice something is missing....
1) there is only 1 game (minigolf):( (my fav is fivestones)
2) when u go into >pictures n sounds> all the more pic, sound n themes are gone...
3) >menu> 1st icon at the top left > it will show "currently unavailable"
4) and i notice also the color is much more brighter even though the contrast level is at 0

u know what? my firmware ver still remains the same R7A. But according to them, there are different kind r7A ver.

and there is one good news for ya all... SE is coming out a new firmware somewhere next month. it has the ZOOM function in the camera mode so be sure to look out for it!

that's all i could figure out today....

so markng: do u have all the things i said above..... plz tell me if urs is different!!!!

I have all 3

2) when u go into >pictures n sounds> all the more pic, sound n themes are gone...

Everything there.
3) >menu> 1st icon at the top left > it will show "currently unavailable"

First Icon says "Sony Ericsson"

4) and i notice also the color is much more brighter even though the contrast level is at 0

Strange.. I thought mine look dimmer even at middle settings

You know what? It looks like he reseted your phone. That's why everything is missing. Another way to confirm is to check how much available memory u have. By default u get about 860++ Kb. You should have more than a 1 MB now with all the crap gone.
I'm pretty sure u'r poly tones are also softer.

by the way the production week of my phone is 03W19... so u r rite about that !!!markng!!! it is nothin to do with the production date.

when i first got the set it has 1.4 Mb free of memory..wow that's alot...

and there is one more thing i noticed:
when u go into >my pictures> more > memory status> my sounds.... the number just stay 0 kb. dunno whether it is good or not?

as for my poly tones.... i didnt see any different in it!!!

so what do ya think bout my set? markng ? any comment???

I've read a similar post about the memory status problem. I believe its posted in hardwarezone's forum. Again, if I remember correctly, the guy got the same problem after he reseted the phone.

Hmm. EricServe told u they have a new batch of phones and its still W19? I got mine last week and its W20. LOL.. I think he's just lowering the amp like ppl have been saying here in this forum.

I don't think we have any choice. Just stick with it. What a shame.
