@ Flying Finn

No I don't think that the Nokia series 40 has a good and easy to use menu interface. It's just the same old interface with color added. And while this interface was good on the old phones like 3310 etc. Today it doesn't use the screens. Just one icon at a time in the menus and with 13 menu items at a time it becomes to cumbersome. Much easier when you can see the main alternatives on the screen at once. The series 40 has quite a nice screen but it doesn't use it in the menues with just one huge icon at a time on the screen.

I'm quite sure that if you would only count the sales of high-end phones that Nokia would not even be close to a 40% market share.

This thread is funny! Stick a SonyEricsson logo on a Nokia and you'd all love it! Perhaps those new SonyEricssons are a joke to see how far they can push their user base before they admit to disliking the phone

It comes down to brand loyalty with a bit of personal preference thrown in. I started on a Motorola, had an Ericsson, then 2 Nokias, a T68 and now a 7210. I liked the first Nokia, and still generally prefer them. But that's just me. Most people here prefer Ericssons. And that's fine! It would be a very boring world if we all liked one thing and one thing only.

But I *still* can't understand how any of you can cope with having to wait for about a minute to get to your address book after you've switched the phone on. It always drove me mad!

i think just 1 cause :
nokia having many alternative cover and can change it easily everywhere, every time you need. And SE dont has it.
Maybe this like little thing but its very important to make your handset viewing new every time.
I use nokia before and i think this is cause why nokia still leader.

Its all about freedom of choice, and as most seem to agree, Nokia is doing a superior job in the marketing department and seem to design their phone to be a bit more "user Friendly" than the rest of the field, not all their designs are great, but not all are crappy either, they have some great phones in their lineup and its good that Nokia stays healthy, do you think the design engineers at SE will be working so hard if Nokia aint selling that much phones? Competition is good because the consumers are the ones who benefits.

IMHO there is no such thing as an universally ultimate phone, its quite subjective to individual needs and the phone that fits your needs the best is the best phone for you regardless of brand. (IMHO)

my opinion.. nokia is now just selling the name.. not features and quality like SE..

today @ my univ. i saw a group of students and they were observing each other's handsets.. in the group: 7210 x 2, T68i, 6100...

i asked nicely if i could borrow one of their 7210's and they were dumbfounded, but agreed and i showed my friend what a $600+ CDN phone that's coming out soon by a service provider here in canada looks like... he shook his head and i returned it to the group... while muttering sorry to the group and saying that phone isn't much for the price paid...
Mobile handset(s):
1. PROTOTYPE TU2 Ericsson R520m CE. (Made: 00W43).
2. Rose White T39mc. (Flashed to T39m).
3. Icy Blue Sony Ericsson T200. (Water-damage revival!).

why nokia?
in my opinion... people choose Nokia because Nokia have phones that are more specifically targeted at one market.

anyways just want to share some stories with u ppl..
my cousin's story:
(its more of why SE)
his 8110 from 7 years ago is still functioning, his moto p7689 from 3 years ago is still functioning, but his T39mc, just passed the one-year warranty, has the no network problem.

my dad's story:
his T600 stopped working after about 4 months...

my story:
well, I'm getting a t68i tormorrow or friday(tracking say its in Canada). I cant say I'm excited about it but to be honest, the reason that I got it just to test out how bad it is...(in the 1900mhz)
I also owned a T200 for one day but returned it right away.. I took the old 6190 over it.. thats how bad it was.

I currently have following nokias: 5190 6190 3390 8290(2x) 7190 8390
all of them are fully functional.. and the main reasaon I liked nokia is because, their housing is so easy to change and they are so cheap. I can throw the phone around without worrying that I will break something. Ever try dropping a phone down 3 stories? my 3390 survived. no problems at all. my dad's t28w just went boom

BTW, if any of you are looking for T68i arctic blue housing, I got a few oem sets here.. email me chrix@rogers.com for details

People buy Nokia because they like them. Simple as that. Some people like other things, such as ourselves; we do not tend to buy Nokia because we believe there is a better product on the market.

Trying to persuade average joe that Nokia isn't the best is another thing. People stick with what they know and because for so many people the first mobile they own is a nokia that's what they will go for time and time again.
