hi,

now that i have got my GPRS up and running and i try to do a send+recieve, it seems to just say finding server for ages....and then says server not found....But the thing is it doesn't check my incoming mail, and now takes ages to do it as i assume it's trying to find the outgoing server? But there is nothing wrong with the IP i've put in as it's the same as what i had before..... what should i do? or even, what am i doing wrong?

I can send e-mails fine from my P800 using my NTL account and Orange GPRS.

What SMTP server are people using to send mails?

I've set mine to smtp.orange.net rather than the NTL one and everything works (I didn't need to set up an orange mail account either). The test mail I sent to another e-mail account still shows as coming from my NTL e-mail.

Hope this helps

Hi Nick

But was the e-mail you sent to another ntlworld e-mail address?

I bet you it was.

Try sending to a lineone, freeserve, bt, demon etc

BTW do the girls still out number the boys by 5 to 1 in Nottingham still?

Lucky bugger!

N

Nope it was to my Pipex ADSL account...

I've found from my different home connections over the years that to send mails from an account other than the one you're currently connected to, you have to use the SMTP server of the connection that you're using. Seems to work for all the accounts and connections I've tried so far.

That ratio's a myth unfortunately!! Still lots of nice girls though [addsig]

Just had a check on the O2 website, smtp.o2.co.uk should work. [addsig]

Hi,

as i said before, my t68i just says "finding server" for ages and then "server not found", when using GPRS, do i need to use a different incoming ip for GPRS? because the same settings work fine for incoming emails through genie.

can somebody let me know,

thanks..
