I managed to install my PC Suite and a COM3 is set up described as
a USB Cable DCU-11(COM 3).

I get the little comunication line at the bottom instead of the -II- type icon but when clicking the P800 desktop icon it still says not connected and there are no phones listed in the change phone option.

I am using XP Home. Anyone had a problem like this?

i had that problem a couple of times it depends on the order that your pc loads up the mrouter and other software - this varies from startup to startup.

I have a similar problem with Windows XP Pro.

I am running on a Compaq Evo N800w Notebook which has USB 2.0 and suspect that this could be the issue. Mainly becuase I have installed a P800 for another pilot user on an older notebook with no problems.

On my machine I can sync the first time it is booted up or the P800 is cradled but after that it does not want to know. I have to stop and start the monitoring for the port to get it to burst into life.

On another forum I read that Symantec Antivirus 7 causes MROUTER to crash. Maybe this is the common thing in all your setups.

I actually had similar problems with Serial and USB cable, while everything worked just fine with Bluetooth or Infrared. This was on multiple PSs, even freshly installed ones. I exchanged the phone, and things improved (it only got perfect when I totally reinstalled my Laptop, though... And so far I don't have Antivirus installed again). Apparently something with my phone's connector was broken.

Sorry if you've been through this already but make sure you're running the PC Suite downloaded from the SE site not the one that comes with the phone.

Sorry, my mistake: I meant McAffee, not Symantec (which would be Norton Antivirus).
Apparently disabling doesn't cure the problem (it didn't in my case either), only a complete removal helps.
Since I did a complete OS reinstall instead of just removing Antivirus, I can't personally say that is helps, I just
a) read about it
b) Didn't install McAffe 7 yet,
and syncing now works perfectly.

Its quite odd,..when I bought the P800,..I had no problem with sync.
Then after a while, it started not to work,..and have not worked since then. (the phone have been upgraded in the meantime).

All the time Mcafee antivirus was/is running,..so I dont think thats the problem. Then that would have been a problem, right from the beginning,..and it wasnt.

PC-Suite,..hmmm,..it worked before,..why would it suddenly not work now ? I've been using the one on the cd-rom,..worked fine before.
I made no changes at all.

USB-ports,..that could be the problem,..I'm running XP Pro, and occasionally my 2nd USB-port screws up,..meaning I cant use my memory-stick-reader,..at least not when it has an extension-cable on, but plugging it directly into the USB,..no problem.
Same thing when using a Sandisk Cruzer/flash memory.

And the Windows Startup - loading progs/applications differently every time,..this I believe too could be the cause of it.

The other SE programs (Picture editor, Backup etc) works fine...so why shouldnt PC-suite sync work as well ?

Also using Office XP,..no problems with that before neither.

I think the problems are the USB and maybe the startup in windows.

Found out that downline USB hubs do cause a problem with synchronisation in XP.

My Notebook without the docking station works fine now...
