It's also not possible to update ones profile, e.g. if you edit your signature or try change your password, when you click submit it goes to a blank page, nothing gets updated.

I am not able to edit my signature under profile.
After editing I type my password and hit the submit button only to come "The website can not display the page". Which is a HTTP 500 - internal server issue.
Update: It works now.
But I miss the Z5 Premium avatar...

Is the bug blocking some of us from uploading photos to the gallery an attempt to limit who can participate (and win!) in the monthly photo competitions?

Nope, still doesn't work for me. My phone is a Nexus 6P and the photos are shot using Google's stock Camera app. I download the photos to my computer and then upload using Chrome as my browser.
I just tried uploading straight from my phone but the same error there as well: Image successfully uploaded and then under the image: Error during image upload. Please try again later.

The upload does actually work but it still fails at the end, perhaps when linking in the image into the gallery.
