Hi! Just wanted to ask. I'm seriously considering getting a T39m, but I heard that in receiving text messages, it only identifies the sender by the cell#, even when the name & number are stored in the memory. Is this true? So far, this has really been the only hang up I've heard.

I bought mine in Nov. 2001 (at semicon) and with the firmware version at that time (out of the box - firmware R2M), it didn't have that problem...the names of the senders were shown. I have since upgraded the firmware and it still works fine. |

I showed my T39 to my cousins (kadadating lang from Pinas). They were not interested at all because it is not Nokia. They were not even impressed with its features. Maganda lang daw ang looks, 'yun lang.
They are looking forward to get their new Nokia phones (GSM 1900) here. |

Your cousins haven't seen the light yet, and they haven't strayed off the path to doom. Having been enlightened, you know that the brand doesn't really matter, but the functions and features do.
Karamihan ng Pinoy nabulag na ng nokia, they automatically think that there is only 1 phone worth owning, and that is a nokia.
I admit that my last phone was the venerable 6150, then I saw the T39m's features. Wow! Goodbye nokia. (And the 11k price tag was a steal!)

->Yiz19,
You can see the sender's name when received SMS, it's by Date/Time followed by the Sender's name or the phone # if sender's name is not in your phone book. I just bought a T39 yesterday and I love it as I love my T68...Yehey may T39 na ako!!!
->Ferrarista - I think that was Motorola's problem before and never with Ericsson phone, I used to use the old A1018s and I never had that problem(SMS without the senders name) either.
Cheers!

Dan !
No, I won't buy T66 because it's too small at saka medyo mahal pa here S$600-700, pero sa launching baka mas mababa na dahil sa plan. But I'm waiting for the R600. And of course sa 3G ng Ericsson. Ayoko ko na ng Nokia, wala na akong gana sa Nokia pare-pareho lang naman ang laman. My heart belongs to Ericsson now!!!
Base unit price is I believe same as down there, but sometimes it's cheaper here. My friend got T68 for only S$298 but higher end plan(Ultimate) with S$70.00 subscription per month, but since it was a corporate account, he only pay S$49.00 at baka kaya mura ang unit. Normal price ng T68 here (unit only) is abount S$800.00, S$698.00 with 2-year normal plan, S$28.00 per month. I got my T68 for S$1000.00 last October 2001, napamahal ako.

That sms id bug depends on the firmware version, current firmware versions have resolved it.

The way i look at it is that t39 is elegant, while the t66 is more funky.
Two different target markets.

dont think it's available yet. get orig, u spent 20T+ for the phone, spend 5% more for the charger.
unlike nokia, u can get it anywhere even on side walk vendor... good for emergencies. |
