But why is internal memory gonna be the future?? Where is the logic?? The cards are so small now you can fit them into any device, you can easily move memory about and never lose it if the phone fails. You can upgrade it further but if it is gonna be the future they need to start thinking about higher than 32 gigs.

I swear if they give us anymore of pea-sized internal memory phones like Arc S that's slows down to an unbelievably pathetic crawl after merely 70-80 apps due to low internal memory I'm gonna make it my personal vendetta to advice everyone I know against Sony phones. I'm tired of their nonsense, as if having a good sized internal space is some crazy far-fetched idea

Well if the memory is non removable the whole memory management will probably look like on WP7 and iOS - everything will be available for apps. You will not worry about it....
The question is rather what about the USB support.

I wonder what they did with all the extra space they got in xperia S compared to arc. Xperia S is a pretty big phone, pretty fat too . I thought non-removable battery and micro-sim would make it smaller. The battery isnt that much bigger either |

Also with this name I can just imagine the pain of searching anywhere whether it be ebay, google or youtube the words 'sony xperia s' and getting a whole load of results on the xperia arc s! It was the same when trying to look for the xperia mini pro and continually finding the x10 mini pro...
The way to do that is to use the search term: "sony xperia s -arc" and it will not bring up anything with the word 'arc' in the title.
Simples!

wow.. i wake up to all these complaints about embedded battery and non-expandable memory...
my thoughts are embedded battery is no big deal. there are other ways to hard reset if necessary. as far as non-expandable memory is concerned, i would have preferred to have the ability to purchase my own microSD and choose my size, but eh, it's no big deal. 32GB is plenty for me.. that on top of cloud storage (I use google music exclusively for music on the go and dropbox, box, picasa for other files and photos) i don't see the real need to have more than 32GB. Perhaps if you're carrying more than 32GB of data on your phone at any point in time, you need to be more organized with your files? heh.. i kid.
In regards to the comments that the Xperia S isn't that thin... I think it's perfect thickness. It seems slightly thinner than the X10 from the photos and that's fine by me. I think it'd be easier to handle/hold than a razor thin phone. In addition, I'd rather have a uniform thickness than a thin phone with a bulge at the camera.
Reasons I think it's not super thin:
- 12mp camera (they have to fit all that goodness in there somehow)
- large battery (yes it's embedded but it's a larger capacity. 1750mah battery in a phone roughly the same size as the x10)
- other doodads and thinamajiggers they needed to fit in there
- overall design philosophy
BTW... other than Rog, has anyone heard or read that the xperia S will have magnesium body? from the pics, the black one seems to have a matte back. Haven't seen much of the white ...

Fat ? It's already 10.6 mm thick for god sake. How thin do you want it ?

Maybe not mAh wise, but what has that to do with the physical size of the battery ? |

I hope the video recording becomes as good as the recent crop of Sony cameras on the market. They are really good but they better make the camera good!! Shame cos I think the design of the Ion is nicer than the Xperia S. Strange thing is the US version gets SD slot but not this one

looks like it's confirmed the LED light strip changes color depending on the need. i was really hpoing this would be true cause that would make an awesome light effect for notifications and such.
still haven't found any information on the material...
@Bonovox
I think S is nicer than Ion... Ion looks like many other android phones. It's very generic. S is much more unique in style. lack of SD card slot kinda sucks, but that's what cloud storage is for
