I dunno bout you guys but this is an excellent example of SE doing what they do best. Its water resistant as well, and for a slider with a 16M color screen I wouldn't put it down too fast. The ecological bull I can care less about, and the looks aren't too fancy but are there. I'm definitely going to dip in this if nothing else seems interesting by next year. |

I think the GreenHeart phones should be part of their normal product line, not only a few extra phones without any special feature on them but nature-friendly. Why don't they make high-end phones like W995 to be GreenHeart, or X10, or Satio? Elm and Hazel don't have anything special inside ( for most people the difference between 16M and 262k is worthless, nor the water-resistant will atract them ). In addition the phones are quite ugly, I'd prefer T715's design. I mean these phones are just "another phones by SE".

SE Elm ... not a bad phone really, should you look at the ram it ships with it should be better than C510/C901. Like others would have loved Symbian or Android on this ... but I think SE is reserving Android for something specific.
Someone mentioned they don't care about the environment? You will when your grandkids are having issues with asthma or other illness related to it. That kind of thinking is the arrogance that left us with Acid Rain, Typhoons that continuously hit Indonesia (leaving hundreds of thousands dead/homeless), and hurricanes that regularly his the USA eastern costal border. It'll get worse before it gets better. Remember, "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned" and you DON'T want to get Mother Earth scorned because she can be "One serious bitch" if she don't get what she wants. Basically we all live in this world and depend on the ecosystem that provides food, water, and air to breath.
I say smart move for SE. Going GreenHeart not only will help it save manufacturing costs, but I'm sure there are significant taxation credits that they can take advantage of in various western country's to help its financial health. Bravo SE.
I'd hope the Elm is a more powerful cpu than C510 (124mhz). This will help it sell and to be honest the longevity of ownership well you don't have to be so careful. I'm PISSED that SE pulled this Euro only HSPA bands yet again though.

Mmmm skeptical the world has always had hurricanes floods & such things from beginning of time. The problem now is increased population being affected. And I never said I don't care about the environment I just said these phones will make no impact or little difference

Just reread what you posted. I'm wrong sorry about that (should've wrong my glasses). Skeptical & debatable but I live in North America and there has never been on record anywhere close to 6-9 hurricanes that developed on the cost of Miami since 2000. Over population ... well acts of nature is Earths way to curb us, sucks but its a reality (anyone that has lost someone to acts of nature my deepest apologies).
These phones along will make little impact, but if SE does this across the lineup; recycling materials and no hazardous chemicals in production process & final products will be significant in around 2yrs+ after implementation.
That said I think I'll still get this for my son, for now he's getting a C510 for Xmas.

i have just one question, why so many people were saying these phones would be android (or even touch screen, i heard it somewhere)... It was quite clear that they had a regular keypad and everything anyway I think it's a good thing, android on such "normal" phones would be wasted

Huh looking at this pic, I have to say it looks mighty tempting. I mean it looks much better then in the still shots that where made with photshop or something. Also I think its a W995 with a more colorful screen less camera power and no jack but if its cheaper I would go for it. |

Thats alright Prom1 no worries I care for the environment but I think more things are inportant in this respect such as the bloody gasses been pumped out by China India & America. Yes we all play our part but I do wish people would stop blaming only western nations. Anyway sorry folks going off topic I swore I would not get into this But did you know cows produce massive amounts of methane gas

The new headset features Bluetooth V2.1 according to the specifications. Can we assume both phones also have V2.1?
Both Hazel and Elm are Bluetooth V2.1 according to the Whitepapers.
I am waiting to see a NAM version of Elm.

Manila , and we've never had floods this bad before. Deforestration of the surroundings hills & mountains around the city has played a part but the weather has really changed compared to a few years ago - not just here but for many countries in SE Asia.
Back to phones , I'm waiting for a mobile that can get at least 15-20% of it's power from the sun. While I'm a fan of windpower I sort of draw the line to having to wear a miniature windmill on my head just to power my phone
