to add my opinion

I think N82 covers all requirements
not too sure about the price requirement though

I'm not too informed about innov8, but it should be considered too, though it seems more chunky than N82 (correct me if I'm wrong)

I'm sorry plank, but anyone with a pair of properly functioning eyes would see that the C902 vid. looks like crap.

I don't mean to be blunt, but it looks like a poorly made GIF and you're comparing color reproduction? At least you can watch the videos taken by the N82/Renoir without being repulsed.

The Renoir is a great choice if you want a feature phone. If you wanna give smartphones a try, the N82 is the way to go. Smartphones have TONS of applications, giving them unparalleled customization options.

plankgatan against the rest of the Esato community again? Or is there anyone here who agrees with him that QVGA from C902 is better than VGA from N82 or any other non-SE camphone?

@AbuBasim im degree with u the n82 has better video recod quality we can compare

640X480 VS 320X240

its impossible compare that is if compare 720x480 with HD.

samples n82
http://www.mobile-review.com/[....]nokia/n82upd/more/10012008.mp4

c902
http://www.mobile-review.com/[....]ric/c902/photo/video/video.mp4

c902 record video better than n82 this is a joke.

pd. the youtube samples sucks and c902 look best because dont resize the video while the n82 has to resize the video to 640x480 to 320x240 very old quality.

(another c902 sample)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_BmfLjvEiw

Renoir can record YES...but N82 looks just blurred, it cant even adjust itself...darker, whiter, darker,,,whiter..and so on.

update,,,. Sweden - Tjeckien = 2 - 0 (3rd period) Ice Hockey, World Championship (if someone cares, mostly some Swedish people i guess...he he

man
posting youtube videos is nonsense, these videos are converted/not original.

requesting a single proof when AbuBasim and sowbran have posted two samples is a nonsense too

P.S.
I haven't watched sowbran's samples, but I beleive, I know what I will see.

plank,
I see that you have can only find samples on YouTube. You don't dare comparing original videos? Why? Because the C902 would like some silly toy compared to a VGA-recording camphone?

@Plank

You're saying the C902 is better overall. Give US some real proof. You're "proof" is a choppy video at a low resolution, in comparison to the N82/Renoir videos, which supposedly makes the N82 video look like crap (it "suxx", according to you) because the colors are so much better.

@star

I haven't tried the Renoir, but I've tried the N82 and prefer S60 (which the N82 runs). S60 has much more applications than any feature phone (flash based, most of the time) out there.

It really depends on your needs. I guess you could summarize the terms feature phone and smart phone into simple and complex. Not as in simple to use, but a simple platform.

Here are screenshots from the video samples from M-R posted by sowbran:

Both are in relatively low light. The C902 is an indoor shot while the N82 is a dusk shot from inside a moving car.

C902

Original video

N82

Original video

Which of these would look best when viewed on a TV?

nikolat will not be against if I try to answer partially
let me tell you about some s60 apps
GPS
Nokia Maps (maps and navigation)
other symbian apps (maps and navigation)
other j2me map apps, not for navigation mostly (Trekbuddy is an excellent app)

Internet
many browsers - Opera, Opera Mini, UCWEB, ...
messengers
Fring - multiplatform messenger, allows chat, calls, ...
Nimbuzz - multiplatform messenger, allows chat, calls, ...
others for ICQ/Yahoo/Google/MSN
youtube clients
blogging clients/twitter/facebook/RSS/whatever you can imagine in this line

WIFI not only allows using internet, but also local networs
SymSMB - Samba client/server allows accessing windows network, sharing folders on fone (comfortable using with laptop)
VNC client
Remote desktop client
Telnet/Putty ...

You have file managers, dictionaries, office apps, task manager, time apps, flash apps, different python apps
You can even use s60 phone as a webcam

there are some dedicated forums for more info.
But you should understand that s60 is powerfull OS with multitasking.

I cannot go into details with LG, but that's something very much different
