We have two perfectly working P990i's here, so they won't have a successor anymore, sad news .

Marly, the same for me. Two P990 (one still with R5A17, great firmware!), and it's sad to know that the future will not bring another uiq device...

Brrr,,, not for me, thanks...
I've already had an E90, and I can't get used to S60. Sure, E90 is a great phone, but I really don't like the UI.

afaik from the forums, UIQ has been sentenced to death few months ago by SE...
So does that mean the remaining UIQ office would be officially shut down by now? How about the employees there, does that mean they would get laid off?
(OT) Just been to find a replacement to my W950i which is already 2 years of age. After trying out and playing around with iphone (from a friend), SE X1, HTC Touch Diamond and Touch Pro, it's surprising to find out that I would rather stick to my old phone or buy a P1i instead! Or should I wait to have a try on N97 when it's released?

Should this put me off getting a G700/900?

Yes.
The best mobile phone brand died with Sony Ericsson's death. Shame on you Sony for killing it! And, of course, for ruining the Xperia brand... Mediar's Site |

@ JJ. I would say try it. How long do you hang on to a phone?Uiq is an ecperiance above all others.G900 is slow. Make no mistake. But when you got it in ram, it`s instant.Sms is slow to open, but fast to send if you use the favorits ( 3 clicks) it`s a delight. And just surfing with opera 9.5 or mini opera is a breese. And with the firmware R9N... it`s stable. |

Highly unlikely, but nevertheless that would be great.

I bought a G700 and G900 last month despite knowing UIQ was dead. You could say I was a late UIQ convert. They were never released in my country and I always liked the look of them. Also, they were now very good value price wise as they had been out for a while. They are the ultimate form factor for me so I imported them from overseas. Long live UIQ |
