I understand the range of platforms available with Nokia, S40, S60, S80 etc. But I am just comparing my experience of going from A200 to S60. I don't want the thread to become a full on is better than Nokia zone

I have owned around 3 N82:s between other phones.. Itīs a really good allrounder as i have stated many times..
There are some annoying things also for sure like 500 buttons to press for changing for example ringtone. Applications you really must close otherwise they run in the background and stuf like that.
I also hate the thing that camera settings you last used never gets saved when you shut down the cam. It always starts with factory settings and i had to fiddle around white balance settings or choosing shooting mode every time i should shoot a pic.. This is the case for many other brands but Sony Ericsson saves these parametres.
I like small things like the letters who shows up when you type an sms, the letters for the pressed button guides you a little.
Now i left Renoir and got myself a c905, a bit of a gamble after all reading of bad quality but sofar so good |

I had a play with a Viewty and the UI was very much like that of Samsung. Then I played with a 6300 which was rather similar as well.
Well in 2006 early 2007 I would have been shouting about how SE is better than Nokia, however now I deffinatly don't. With the K850 and W910 being rushed and the latest firmwares of them being abysmal plus the fact the produce a load of low end phones and not enough high/mid end ones and only 1 walkman with AF since 2005/6 makes me think they don't do market research and find out what people want. They have just made phones know fans will buy them. However with a loss in market share it obv. hasn't. |

It is a good phone for sure and the cam takes beautiful outdoor shots. Indoors it was worse and i missed the powerful flash like in the N82. I also have big fingers and i just like phones with real buttons better. Itīs also a grease magnet as all touchphones so i got bored of wiping it all the time
But i just couldnīt get myself to buy a fourth N82 a little bored of that model |

I could never go for any of the current touchscreen solutions because the typing is so limited. I'd hate to compose an email on that keyboard with two lines of text visible at a time! I've tried and failed

SE's predictive text is out of this world, I can write a text/email in such a short amount of time.

It seems really nice. Better than expected to be honest. I have been really afraid for it after everything bad i have read. But i decided to gamble a bit.
I had the shop owner to bring out all c905 he had in stock so i could feel around a bit before i chosed one. I noticed one of them had a little stiff navigation pad in the "up" direction.
But so far so good, really happy with the phone. Web browser good, buttons good, really good indoor shots with the strong flash. Wifi works perfect. It feels fast and i havenīt found anything that bugs me yet.
The outdoor shots seems just fine also, a little bit soft compared to the Renoir who has alot sharper pics. This i easily can do to the c905 in a photo editor afterwards so for me itīs not a big deal. I always tune my shots anyway when i resize them for web usage and so on.. |

Wow upon reading this thread you made me realize im screwed if i go with nokia instead of SE for my next phone. Thank you for doing that. I gues now that SE does come as the best UI for simplicity. And its not smart technology but nice simple flash/jave based. A bit repetitive but useful more or less. |

Still very happy with my LG Viewty after over a year of ownership. It has its weaknesses, indoor camera shots tend to be weak and the 250 text message number limit can be annoying. But overall its a very good & strongly designed touchscreen phone with good UI and powerful video and camera abilities. Surfing is also great with a 3 inch screen and 3G/HSPA connectivity.
But having an T700 has reminded me of how elegant SE phones are. Those little touches people have been talking about in this thread truly make the UI great. The photoDJ is simple to use but powerful, i often end up retouching my Viewty on my SE phone (thank god for bluetooth which is faster on the T700 Btw). The camera is more responsive in nightshots ,another Viewty weakness, and the photo album handles a large number of images better. Something that always amazes me since the T700 has 1/4th the memory of the LG phone.
The two work together well as a team, am very glad i have both

I'd think N82 and C905 are in 2 different catagories, aren't they? The N82 is an "all-rounder" equipped with Symbian while C905 is a feature phone, so to me there is no direct comparison of the two. So IMO one cannot really judge which is better, but only which would suit you more.
For example, for people like me who would like to use my phone for many other purposes as to enter my daily schedule and expenses, to play some of my old GBA games, and the most important of all to be able to get on the internet with a nice browser like Opera Mini, the sure go is for N82.
But for others who want to pursue a more user-friendly UI and a Cybershot camera, C905 would definitely be better.
However, it would of course be best if all the advantages of the two could, if ever possible, be combined into one...

I have owned SE phones for my main phone for about 4 years now. I have tried every UI out there Nokia S40, S60, Samsung, LG, Apple, Motorola, Blackberry, etc and none can replace the simplicity and powerfulness of SE's UI.
Things I like about the SE UI
1. The recent call list. I don't like how S60 only shows dialed calls when you hit send.
2. Adjusting volume in JAVA games. On SE I just press the Volume up and down keys. S60 doesn't do this.
3. Text messaging is a joy with SE T9, the recent contacts list and the Marking ability.
4. Contacts. I like how when I go to someones name, I can tab left and right to see the number or email I want to call or send a message to. On S60, you just see the name in the main contact list. You have to select the contact to see the numbers/email addys.
I am getting a X1 soon and we will see how that works but I have a feeling I am going to sell it due the speed reports and the WM interface.
