Sounds like a good suggestion, indeed! I've actually been eyeing the Z(!)610, which is I think a clamshell version of the K610. There's plenty of room for a decent speaker in those clamshells. The Z600 I had before was a gem!

I never used clamshell, but haave hands on experience with K610. And when you mentioned speakers, the K610's one is pretty good.

K610 is a solid little phone, very competent as a phone and also looks good while still being a plain candybar. Especially the red K610, very nice. It's one of my favourite candybars from a "looks" point of view.

@vlammetje, no worries, when I first saw it I thought what a perfect solution to allow taking portable devices that use a lot of battery power on long hikes.

My case is a bit different, in that I'm looking at convergence, for example when the C905 comes out I'll be interested in the GPS/Camera/Music in all in one device that it offers. The freeloader would make the gps in a phone actually feasible as a tool for hiking.

For your purposes you may even benefit from two freeloaders.

For looks and design it seems to be classic clamshell phone. Nothing extra on it's outside. You know, if this phone had autofocus on camera it would be perfect...

remember the days when phone batteries were so big, you could get special battery cases that you could refill with two AA or three AAA's?
