Still using my W960i. Great music player and all round phone (weak for video compared to new devices). Just wish it had 16 or 32GB RAM now!

Waiting to see what the next iPhone is like myself.

Choose G900i, not W960i.

The screen is like no difference, if it's larger, the quality will be lower because they have same resolution.

G900i have navigation pad, which is waaay better than none. G900i have these keys which W960i have in the screen.

G900i's media is even better than W960i for pictures, video, ects. Music is still very good.

G900i's performance is much faster than W960i.

GO FOR G900i!!!

White Girl, do you own both the G900 and W960? If so please share with us your real-life experiences with these phones. I myself own a G900 but I can't comment on whether it's better or worse than the W960 because I haven't used a W960. I have found out too often that recycled theories and half-baked phone reviews on the internet prove to be very different from what one experiences when an actual unit is used, especially a unit with the most updated firmware.

Having said that, if I may just mention the following:

- The W960 may not have a navigation pad, but it does have a scroll wheel which in many ways is faster than a conventional D-pad.

- Keys on the G900? The dedicated Notes key is useless if you don't use the Notes application VERY often. They really should have made it a soft key.

Ditto for the dedicated Messaging key (though this is more useful than the Notes key -- you can go to messaging in one click no matter where you are in the interface). There are already far too many on-screen / d-pad combinations you can use to get to Messaging and a dedicated key is a bit of an overkill I feel.

- G900's media player? It looks nice but not very practical. I had to install Gview to get a sort of gallery view for the pictures, but my old K610 is still much better, much faster at showing thumbnails and an overall view of media files.

- Performance in terms of speed? Funny, there was a poster here at Esato saying his G900 is in his desk drawer but his W960 is often used, because he found his G900 to be slow. But then my G900 (PDA software R6K842, phone software R9N002) is fast in all aspects of navigation (and I'm NOT talking about initial program loading). So I'm willing to bet that with the latest firmwares, both the W960 and G900 won't raise any "speed" issues.

- "Same resolution, larger screen = poorer display." This is one of the most simple-minded generalizations being recycled on the Web. There are far too many factors that contribute to a screen's quality. I find that chiefly it has to do with the materials and the manufacturing process used. The only way to know is to hold the actual unit and LOOK at it. One will never know from common specs sheets like 320x240 176x220 TFT etc etc.

To thsoe saying g900 screen is better becuase it's smaller, this is just opinions, I'd actualy prefer the screne to be 3" and same resolution. Easier to read from far away like in the car (tomtom).

The W960i was my first UIQ phone (and first SE phone ever). I must say it was a disappointment. It looked so nice in the press photos but in real life it wasn't as nice, no where near actually. The keypad back light was very annoying and the plastic didn't feel as good as it should have (for the price). A jog dial driven interface with the back button on the front... hmm, one handed use out the window, and what about the stylus.... don't go there!

I actually grew to like the OS itself but the phone would crash/freeze daily, and I mean daily, hence was too unreliable to use as it intended, a mobile telephone. I even put the Generic World firmware on it, and still no improvement. Now I could have just bought a lemon but reflash after reflash, not to mention changing to GW firmware didn't improve it so I don't believe it was only my model that was sub par. Even if, you can't excuse the physical/hardware faults and how they add to the poor implementation of this phone.

I got sick of it and sold it.... but something in me told me to try the P1i. So I bought that and it restored my faith!! It didn't suffer any of the issues that the W960i did. It was built well, out of good materials and never froze/reset itself. Since then, I have also added the G700 and G900 to my collection. I think UIQ is great and am disappointed that it died. I wouldn't recommend the W960i to anyone, but the G700, G900 or P1i, I would not hesitate one bit!
