Yeah, UIQ3 modded installer is great. You can use unsigned apps. Actually best symbian edition for me.

And the built in browser on the P1 itself is Opera Mini 8.65, which doesn't support the full HTML that you are talking about. But you can install Opera Mini 4.1 and have Full HTML browsing, la your PC.

Not technically correct

the P1i ships with Opera Mobile 8.65 which does offer full HTML rendering, the trick to this is turning off the "fit to screen" setting which renders pages in fullscreen mode more like a desktop browser.

Although admitidly Opera Mini 4.1 was released much more recently so probably offers a better solution at the moment

So.. when are you going to fix whatever it is that makes it impossible to paste more than 300 characters into (one of your custom programmed) text- fields?

here is your sickly sweet answer, fixed in Opera Mobile 9.5

but fixes to that very old version of the browser and done on demand from SEMC these days, and very infrequently / only for major show stopping bugs

That's what they say.. but the idea seems to have been ordering no bugfixing outside what one or two in- house coders could fix on their own code (which wasn't much).

..well.. looking forward to seeing an Opera 9.5 build for UIQ. Hopefully you'll be able to sell it separately as well, now that UIQ dies off. Or else.. I see no reason for anyone to release a browser for phones that won't be made... yeah?

there will be a public release for UIQ (see http://my.opera.com/operamobi[....]07/07/leave-no-platform-behind )

and i very much doubt you will have to pay, it will be either a free beta like the windows mobile public release, or an indefinate trial

Although i'm just an engineer, but i will fight if they want to charge you poor people stuck with a 2 year old browser on your new SEMC phones!

Dude, you've just made my day

Seriously, more companies should care about their customers in this way.

Thanks, soul. ..It's a shame about the Opera 9 release as well, isn't it - it's not stable on WM, and never will be (without preventing the phone from using more than one program at a time..).

Really... "you need a presence in the WM market, because that's what the business- people are using". Anyone remember that?

I mean - I'd love to pay for a well- made browser, if it can just fix those few remaining things that will make the phone usable as a laptop/mid. ..I'd hate SE even more for making me having to pay for something I paid SE to provide a year before, of course - but hey.. Can't have everything. Like the fingers of all the SE engineers on a string around my neck. But I'm not complaining.

It should be free... Not fair to ask for payment while it's free in many other versions...
