If you're so damn disgusted with SE then why you're all still here??
Nobody needs to explain to you why they are here. Take your own advice, if you don't like what you read then you can go away.
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD |

Dude??? What's wrong with you??? You always crave for better camera specs on mobiles and now your taking side of LED flash in comparison to Xenon... Ofcourse Xenon flash in a cell phone may not be as good as a compact camera but it's way much better than LED flash... And by the way SE is providing both... They just need to make it optional for some of you guys to choose which one to use when, which they ain't even gonna think about...
As for Eldar, what he is saying is somewhat right but not completly... He is mostly not 100% correct as he comments on protos and the final product is somewhat different... |

Oh, come on. Here's proof:
I was standing at about 8 metres away from the door.
The shot was taken in complete darkness. Sure's there's a lot fo noise, but it does OK, IMO.

I was just talking from my own experience. Comparing my two camphones: SE K770i and i-mobile 902, the K770i's LED flash has a greater range than the xenon flash on the i-mobile 902. On the other hand, if I have something to support the i902 on, the low light shots are digicam quality.
@NightBlade,
Here's a shot of our messy living room shot in complete darkness with a Fuji F40fd:
The distance to the far corner is about 10-12 meters. As you can see there's quite some difference in the power of a digicam's vs a camphone's xenon flash...

NightBlade, try that in Twilight Portrait mode and you'll see wonders.

Abubasim proved the point here. Everyone who have tryed or used a cheap real digicam can understand this.
Regardless of what trick you use with the mobilephone, the pics with will be light-years from the digicam.
So with all phones so far, no one stand a chance against a cam like the Fuji F40FD in any situation. The F40fd is a seriously nice cam that cost less than half of what a c902 does for example...
But maybe just we who have used them understand the difference, i dream of a mobile phone who could capture pictures like it but i think we have to wait yet a couple of years..
The c905 wouldnt stand a chance either i think but maybe the cam will be very good for a mobile phone when all firmware are finished and complete.

I agree with Eldar about the Xenon.

Eldar's website is called Mobile Review. I don't know about you but to me it sounds like he needs to review phones and not to include his personal opinions in them, because a review needs to look at the phone at hand and only focus on that phone instead of the goings on of the company making it.
He's completely lost the plot here. He no longer properly reviews SE phones. If he wants to talk about his personal opinions he should write a blog.

re: Eldar
There is no excuse for a shoddy review. We don't need "support" for SE from him. SE doesn't need it either. What I expect from him - or anyone doing a review - is a good, real-world review. Facts. An unbiased/unrigged test. And let the chips fall where they may. That's kinda the point of a review, no?
Garbage like that shoots Eldar's credibility right in the foot. What's the point of reading another fanboi rant? That's what a bogus job like this turns his work into. I guess I'll have to look elsewhere for real reviews. He becomes just one more tosser on the net with an opinion. And his is biased. Pffft.

would you rather read a review that ignores SEs many failings?

Well, why don't phonemakers abandon xenon flashes altogether, huh?
Sheesh.
BTW, Mizzle, you're right. The pic was at least 50% brighter!

Once again the skill of the photographer triumphs. Point and shoot is for amateurs.

Speaking of the i8510's flash, it's a run-of-the-mill LED unit, which is, of course, a bit disappointing, given the camera's otherwise stellar specs. But let's be honest here, even Xenon flash units (like the ones found in the Nokia N82, Motorola ZN5, and some Sony Ericsson branded handsets) can't make a world of difference in terms of image quality. There are several valid reasons for that, and the main one is that the cameras built into mobile phones can't provide decent quality in low light these days, and in this case no flash in the world will mend this glitch. So, as far as the Samsung i8510 goes, the absence of a xenon flash module only means they won't have an extra selling point to brag about in commercials, but that's about it.
Remember the context in which Eldar makes this statement: he reviews prototype phones in an unfinished form. He does this on purpose to be first on the internet with information which gets him many hits on his website, which then generates advertising revenue and notoriety. Otherwise he would wait for release like the real press do and review a finished product in it's proper context.
Why go over and over this topic? Don't people realise the internet is full of dodgy information? Take everything you read with a heathly dose of salt (Is salt healthy ?!?)

Some of the replies blindly defending SE are just so amusing. SE should be a religion for some of you hardcore fanboys. "SE'ism"?! |
