P1 is a great phone, the keyboard is amazing, the camera is also very good. There are some problems though:
1. No WiFig
2. Not 3G (why all P-series phones are not 3G I have no idea)
3. Email client is buggy at best.
4. So-so bluetooth stack. Works, quits, static, etc. This is with the supplied headset (also from SE).
For me, having the wheel on the left makes it difficult to use, would have been better on the right. There are also some software niggles and these should be sorted out (hopefully) with firmware updates.
I had no build quality issues with mine (knock on wood); but I have heard many people complain of them.
The green tint thing -- personally I don't care as I don't use my phone as a camera.
Don't worry about the keyboard, if you can touch type, you'll be texting like a monkey on speed in no time.
As for value; a far better value in my opinion is the Samsung i550W, which has:
1. GPS
2. WiFi b/g
3. Symbian 3.1 FP1 and S60 UI (same as latest Nokia n-series)
4. 3.5 mm jack on the top (my N95 has it on the side, an annoying place)
5. Large screen
6. 3.5G (HSDPA upto 3.6mbps downlink)
Yes, I know its not a SE phone, but its quite a contender.

it's a great phone and i love it. it's by no means perfect, but no phone is. it's true that there is a shortage of apps available for UIQ3. BUT, i've recently received an email from StyleTap that it will be starting it's beta testing for its UIQ3 app next month.
what is StyleTap? it's an emulator that will allow you to run Palm apps onthe P1 and all other UIQ3 phones. and since Palm has the largest library of apps, even more than WM, i'd say that UIQ3 users really have something to look forward to! |

I am a nokia fan, but I have to admit that the P1i is a stylish smartphone with all the essencial features, great music, wifi, touchscreen, symbian.

(..in theory, anyway.)
But it allows you to connect to more router setups, at least. |

if you've come from either Palm or WM, you will find that a lt of the apps you used are either not available on UIQ3, or that those availabledo not offer the same level of sophistication.
off the top of my head, three Palm apps that i am looking forward to being able to use on my P1 are Healthfile Plus (a very comprehensive health and medical record tracker), PocketQuicken and Metro. |

On the subject of missing apps - something along the lines of 'Magic Profiles' would fill a gaping chasm in the P1's functionality, also related to this would be a macro recorder (though we do now have 'bunch launch' of course, but this is more the equivalent of a .bat file rather than a true macro). Oh yes, and a derestriction of auto start wouldn't go amiss either
Good Morning everybody!

I had the p1i but really didnt find it to be up to my standards.
My unit had very poor build quality. It is very plasticky as well which makes it feel cheap IMO.
The platform does not have that many 3rd party apps. The camera is not good, and is missing a few things (its been mentioned in other posts but things like 3g, atleast edge? wifig? etc...)
It does have its redeeming qualities though, like the keypad and the touch screen (although thats more of a novelty then anything) |
