I don't think the point is to mod here. Modding comes out of the fact that the manufacturers do not make the perfect phone for many people. This thread is calling for perfect phones coming straight from the manufacturer without modding.

Modding doesn't solve everything either. Some people just don't have the requirements to be able to do so. Some don't have the knowledge. Some don't want to mess up their phone with something that isn't original. Some don't want to risk screwing up there phone or voiding their warranty. You can't honestly offer up modding as the solution for a perfect phone.

Agree. It's nice for those of us who like modding, but no good for the average end user.

The perfect SE phone for me will be the P5 if the pictures of it are true (slide formfactor and Dpad with qwerty kyb under the slide) and if it has HSDPA, wifi g, 3.2MP AF camera (or better yet 5MP but I would settle for a good 3.2MP AF) VGA or screen and VGA video recording, and runs UIQ reliably and promptly.

Perfect phone for "now"

Nvidia APX 2500 Processor .
256MB RAM
2Mpx sensor of a reasonable size, not the itty bitty things they throw on our cam phones, with a decent quality lens, a decent flash and aperutre adjustment if possible.
USB OTG.
TV-Out.
Battery > 1500Mah
VGA or a WVGA screen
SirfIII GPS chipset.
Android or WM OS.
Touch Screen of course with a slide out keypad.
Wi-Max(or WiFI) and HSDPA/HSUPA

We'll since this is day dreaming.....but wait! SE do have a similar phone in the works, the X1 , perfect phone for the time being

i think that is a great idea...altho a little too ahead of its time...at the moment the phone manufacturers are still trying to keep things as simple as they possibly can...giving the consumer so many choices would only tend to complicate it for most of them and end up confusing them

Why is it so complicated? Citing my pc analogy, people have been doing this kind of thing for years, as far as complication for the consumer - I think that most people would be capable of using a 'phone builder' website, somewhat akin to Alienware's builder for pcs for example. Aslo, to keep it relatively user friendly, there could be template suggestions which the customer could then embelish.

The complication is therefore purely ecconomic, as it would require a manufacturer to restructure their product fabrication. I do feel that the benefits would outwhey the cost, as it would be a conciderable coup for whoever did it - making the rest appear to be stuck in the garage with Steve Jobs, circa 1977, minus the eureka moment

On a more realistic level, how about one that works, that has been beta tested to destruction, and has all its bugs and niggles worked out prior to release. If its a case of market forces driving expediency, then simply get more beta testers (not ones that pay for the privelidge) - I'm sure you'd get plenty of volunteers here

realistic level...LOL

i think with devices becoming as complex as they are...it is virtually impossible to work out all the bugs and niggles!!...altho i totally agree with you....they should atleast go through much more vigorous testing and make the system far more stable than what we are getting currently!!!

well here's the spec for my perfect SE...with reasoning..and i believe it can be made as all the technologies are currently implemented in some phone or another

>3g quadband
>5mp camera with xenon flash autofocus and 3x optical zoom (:SE:'s japanese phone has it already)
>30fps VGA recording
>gps
>wifi b/g
>multi-touch touchscreen for certain operation
>dvb-h and recording (:SE: japanese bravia phone i think can do it)
>divx support (i think there are some phones out there that do support it)
>bluetooth 2.1
>fm reciever and transmitter (they have implemented it in some phones already and new texas instrument chip does bluetooth..fm recieve and transmit all in one)
>dual micro-sd and m2 slot
>8gb or 16gb internal memory (would make having an mp3 player unnecessary..and it has been implement in n96 and iphone)
>powerful processor and enough ram (i m assuming TI-omap34xx would be good...to ensure smooth operations and good multimedia playback on the phone)
>the beloved play / pause button
>circular d-pad with scrolling (not sure if p5 has something like that...but this is on my canon sd860..i m sure wouldnt be too difficult to implement on a phone either)
>3.5mm jack
>tv-out
>XMB mediaplayer
>UIQ3.3 (or UIQ4 preferably)

i think that should keep me happy for a few years...lol!!!
