Have you looked at the Mac mini? Most likely your cheapest (new) option, especially if you already have keyboards, mice and monitors knocking around.
I saw you'd got an iPhone. How are you finding it after a few months use? Has it become your main phone now? Initial sparkle warn off, or still like it as much?
I haven't gone for the iPhone yet - got an iPod touch instead. Think I'll wait for the second generation iPhone before I get one - although the fact they're so easy to unlock now is tempting.

if you want something different, burn gusty (ubuntu linux) to a cd, pop it into your drive and go to "live cd" , if you like it, it is easy enough to istall via a link on the desktop
and there are looooooooads of free graphics software that can be easily installed in minutes! (even easier than in windows)
