AFAIK Samsung's B-series is exclusive to Korean market.
from my observations, sometimes it's better off not knowing. |

show me a previous nokia phone that looked similar to it, mentioning the aspects of them which are common which would make it instantly recognisable as a nokia? for example, is there anything about it where you could cite at least 10 other models that have that exact same appearance that screams out "nokia"?
Well, the fact is says Nokia above the screen is often a good give away making it easily recognizable as a Nokia lol
Oh, and a Nokia that looks like the 7900 prism?
...how about a 7500 prism

SE has made some of the gayest looking phones i've seen. All their phones have that 'thing' that attract little kids, usually under 18 and/or girls. However they experiment, they always cater to one audience: kids.
Nokia on the other hand, well if you want variety of design then have a look at these:
N93
N90
E70
E90
N78
8600 LUNA
8800
N95
8890
N91 to name a teeny tiny few!
Now dont BS about how ugly or whatever some of those phones might be, the truth is, all those are one of a kind phones and very rarely you'll see such designed phones on someone else's portfolio.
Now look at SE
K750
K800
K810
K850
P900
P910
P990
M600
P1
Those are the 3 designs SE have going at the moment. Almost all their flips have been market failures

QVGA you forgot the clamshells, all of them sport a different design, you also forgot the T series line of design, being a bit prejudiced aren't we now .

they may look different to you.
i really can't believe that you cited the k810i as being different from any other SE and not having anything in common . you've just made my day.
where do i start....
1) the keypad area and call/end buttons
http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_g900-pictures-2247.php
http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_k810-pictures-1839.php

http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_g700-2248.php
http://www.gsmarena.com/sony_ericsson_v600-pictures-1189.php
and so on.
see the glaring similarity instantly recognisable as a typical SE configuration. and even between the k, v, and g series. that's all SE do - maybe change the shape of the buttons(although in some case they don't even do this) and then change the shape slightly of 1 or 2 buttons on the dpad area, and then some people(*cough*NightBlade*cough*) call it a fresh new design. sorry, but they are not even remotely fresh designs - they are blatant rehashes that are obvious to most..
2) the overall block-like dimensions that is shared with about 70% of the whole of the SE candybar 'range'.
next up, the w380....
1) see the dpad area again that screams out "SE". similarly to the k810i and many other SEs, notice that there may well be a slight change in shape of the buttons between models, but they still stick to the same old tired overall design.
2) the hinge that also screams out "SE".just look at how many other models there are from what very few clamshells are by SE - z310i, z770, z550, z558,....
same with the w350 - the dpad area and keys screams out "SE".
note the common theme. there are only 1 or 2 features which attempt to distinguish any of those models that you list from others models. keeping the basic dimensions, the same dpad layout, and the same everything else apart from 1 or 2 particular features (eg the shape of the keys) doesn't make it varied from the others.
just look at all the SE models, and see how many common factors there are amongst most of them.
then compare that with nokia where there isn't any one specific feature or aspect that immediately screams out "nokia".
it's a shame that there isn't a mathematical formula which can prove the glaring similarity between SE models. but one thing i and many others do know is that SE is the only manufacturer where a phone can instantly be recognised as an SE at a glance (for the reasons that i've already mentioned). you can see them all lined up in shops, all looking the same.......except on closer scrutiny.
i mean, why do SE rehash their designs so often? it may well be that their designers are incompetent and lacking imagination, or it could reflect SEs tendency to give the customer any old trash provided that they aggressively market their phones to compensate.
knowing know where you're coming from, i'm not at all surprised that you actually believe that SE's have the most varied design. your steamed up SE tinted glasses need wiping clean with a nice clean cloth doused with essence of reality.

Qvga is right. Look at the SE. Only they and Motorola had a worse then expected 4Q (profits less then 4Q 2006) and this first Q is expected to be even worse for both. On the other hand Nokia and Samsung are the winners

@Brightspark:
Well, what more CAN you change other than the contours, button shape/layout, colour combinations, dimensions, design accents/patterns and materials?
If you consider the abovesaid, every SE phone is different (Some more, some less). |

What the hell is going on??? This is not the thread topic... I have said enough of my opinion on SE's designs being the most different and new than other companies...
Just a simple request to all, please seperate design and looks... That way maybe you will agree that SE phones look different but still having the similar design base... OK????
Now no more of this on this thread...
Any better/HQ live pics of these new Samsung phones??? |

btw...nokia n90 and n93 are totally a mirror image of each other...they r nothing but bricks and one would rather carry a canon mini-dv which along with an se phone will feel more compact..
the newly announced phones are either a direct copy or an 80% copy of the previous phone...the only design tht has been left alone by nokia is the n91..nt tht they had any choice |

Ok all manufacturers (not just phones even) must keep certain things going in their designs because it creates a brand image, and is instantly recognisable to people. There is a slow evolution through the range so that people don't go "what the heck is that?" everytime a new one is released. Also, it advertises the brand. If you see someone using a cool phone and you want one, you should know the brand straight away and be able to go buy one!
Thats why you see an SE and know it's an SE, same with Nokia, Motorola, and Samsung. They all do it. Some people won't like a certain brand image, some people will, it's all down to the personal taste and choice.
I think Motorola did this a little too much though. They need to evolve a little more with each release.
