You could atleast try and make this thread a little less useless by explaining why you hate them. You just said W980 is a disappointment but you didnt explain why. So tell me why?

To begin with, if this thread was so useless maybe you should ignore it,
but since you dont, then maybe you should read the thread.
I said it once, I will say it again. I dont hate the new SE phones - I am disappointed - mainly in the design.

But I will give you my answer.

As I wrote ; this thread is about design and I wrote w980i has a beutefull design.

So what did I expect ?

Well I expected w980i to be a smartphone and it isnt. so even though I love the design I expected it to be a smartphone, but it didnt turn out that way, ergo a big disappointment for me.

why on earth were you expecting a smartphone? have you ever seen a flip smartphone from SE before? you probably never will.

It is a bit of a shame though that the G900 has WiFi but no GPS built in while the G700 has GPS but no WiFi!

Would be good if one phone had both, + a flash for the camera.

The G700 is ugly and the G900 looks quite nice but is quite boring and looks a lot like the K750i.

Does G700 have GPS built-in or what
I'm pretty sure it hasn't

Actually, no it doesn't! I thought it did, for some reason, but it's only a GPS accessory you can get for it, and other SE phones. D'oh!

Well, definitely No to the G700 then!

It's the C702 that has built-in GPS.

I'm sorry, but I fail to see the point, reason and substance of this thread.

Also, I wholeheartedly disagree with you.

I think you're all being a tad hard on SE76!

He's entitled to his view that the new range of SE phones are a bit disappointing.

I resisted getting the K850i when it came out as I just didn't like it, especially the tiny buttons and weird D-Pad thing, so I've been waiting for the new raft of phones.

I too am a bit disappointed as there's nothing that makes me go 'wow!' except the X1 thing, and that's gonna be really expensive, not out for a long time, and runs Windows.

There was all this talk of SE revealing more phones on Wednesday, but that never happened, and now everyone's saying they'll reveal them at Cbit, but that may not happen either!

I suppose the G900 is the best of the bunch but it's nothing amazing.

To me the G900 IS amazing. I had a K750i which as you all know is a stunning phone. But I fancied the P990i, so 800 years later I got one for free on an Orange 18 month upgrade. Fine I thought, liked it a lot, however I truly hate the camera interface, and then the iPhone came out and lets be honest once you play with it you think why aren't all touch screen smarty's like this?
But then the P1i came out about 7 months after the P990i so I got that sim free as Orange refuse to support it, I also got TomTom and then a bluetooth GPS for a Christmas pressy. And now I can't live without the P1i and Tom Tom. I don't use it often but love the fact I can just get my phone and use free car sat nav. But it still has the worst camera interface ever.

So now SE have released a phone with a smaller but much better quality touch screen. It's faster, will run my Tom Tom, has finger touch icons for main functions, is smaller and lighter and has an amazing camera interface. So as I just want a phone to run Tom Tom on, use for text and tel calls (amazing that I know!) and view my works rota in excel format on, then the G900 is exactly what I want and it's cheaper and with some luck Orange will support it. I'm without doubt the G900's target market as I DON'T want it for business use. I am very glad for the phone as i looks like the K750/700 and has a D pad too and a separate volume control.

So I guess I'm saying it's a MUCH improved P1i with all the faults fixed for less money, so I'm not disappointed at all with what SE have done.

Well, first of all, I agree that the thread is rather pointless. And I'll try to answer your questions, SE76:

-IMO the point of the C series is isolating the Cybershots from the regular K phones. It also has a point, because the K series is pretty broad, so they'd run out of indexes pretty soon, unless they'd change the number logic like with the P1i.
-G series has a huge point. As djin said, these are all rounders. Not only that, these phones should boost UIQ3's popularity. The P and M series are business meant handsets, and you don't see them as often as Series 60 phones. G phones are SE's take on accessible smartphones, and a response towards S60's popularity rise.
-I do agree with the W980i, I'd take the W960i or the W890i over it any day.
-I wouldn't be as sure about qualifying the X1 as a business phone. The marketing mostly focuses on the multimedia features, and remember that marketing means a lot towards the handset's classification. I'm not sure what does the US market think of the HTC Touch, but here it's considered a fashion handset first and foremost.
