what about mp3 quality?

Its not marketed as a music phone so the playback quality will be stock standard like all Sony Ericsson's in the same class.

@carkitter: Yeah I'd say this is more of a V800 successor than the W980i. The W980i is too music focussed, while this is more in line with the V800, apart from lack of video calling lol.

The z770 and/or the w980 is imo not the v800 successor. V800 was highend and these phones are midends.. |

I disagree. I think Z770 is in the same category as the V800 was in but the W980 is a level above due to + A/F (very rare) + 8GB built in.
Z770 is a nice but conservative looking phone IMO and should sell well.

@carkitter the W980i doesn't have A/F. I'm pretty sure about that. Sorry to disappoint!

When v800 came it was a phone that was great in (almost) every aspect.
Camera, memory, display, connectivity.. (it also has advanced bluetooth if i'm not wrong)
Z770 has a "not that good" camera, display could have been larger and to make it even with v800 on the connectivity it should have wlan.
W980 is closer to v800. But you can't call it a successor because it is a walkmanphone - music oriented. The cam is just slightly better than z770.
A v800 successor imo should have: nice AF cam (perferably with flash), atleast 2.2 or 2.4" screen, gps, wlan, UIQ(but a non-smartphone is accepted) and stable and hard to break. |

^^ I prefer using A200 than UIQ mate, simply because there are lots of support from hardware manufacturers like Nvidia/Ati that supports OSE platforms than Symbian. Symbian's best partner for CPUs/GPUs were only TI and Imagination Technologies. OSEs have Qualcomm, TI, Nvidia, ATi, and so on
not to mention that A200 GUI is much more matured than UIQs even S40/S60s imo

Anyone know when this phone is going to available in the UK? The little "coming soon" star has gone from the SE website but it still says "coming soon" on the specs pages and no sign of it in the shops yet. |

Looks like you're right, I'd thought that it did.
Walkman phones with A/F appear to be only W960i, W610i, W810i.
@xironghostx
I still disagree with your comments. V770 = sharp edges + clamshell + connectivity focus and that's a V800 successor in my book. As they say in Fast and Furious, "...the rest is all smoke."
I don't know what you mean by 'advanced' bluetooth, but if you mean Version 2.0 with high speed data transfer and A2DP/AVRCP profiles then no, it doesn't have any of those. I know that this phone stangely doesn't have a video call camera but as video calling hasn't really taken off, I guess it doesn't matter too much.
As for WLAN, an marketing manager has been widely reported as saying that free Wifi hotspots will become obselete as HSDPA ramps up to speeds of 42Mbps+ over the next 2 years, so there goes any chance of a wifi enabler or wifi in any non-symbian phone Infact, I'd say that this phone signals 's decision to follow the high-speed 3G route and not the iPhone's Wifi connectivity path in the future; while free Wifi is big State-side, I think you'll see 3G take over in Europe and Asia-Pacific as it has in Japan and this phone is in a prime position to take advantage of it.
seem to have a policy of making phones that Vodafone and other networks can leverage thier money-making services off. The V800 was one of those and this Z770 certainly is another, I'm surprised Vodafone haven't announced a 'V770' version already TBH.
