Oh, don't start all this again! He needs a PC in this case, not a mac! And he wants to spend less than £700 with as big a screen as possible!

Much as I like them, they're not the answer to everybody's prayers! Why run a windows emulator or dual-boot a mac when you can just buy a windows laptop? They're not that bloody bad!

Macs ARE PCS - PERSONAL COMPUTERS LOL
Not alien artifacts

Pucks (So called PC's to the mac people) are much cheaper for the same hardware, and you can just pop a hackintosh on there if you really love the mac os so much.

Have you checked out toshiba yet, leeboy?
They are not so appealing at the forst look but very robust. At least from what I see from my colleagues.

Ditto!

You really have to try it for yourself to see the benefits, it's just a case of whether booting into windows to use the software he needs will be efficient enough, from what i can gather it should be ok it's whether he takes the plunge so to speak.

Do it do it do it do it!

hey all

right, im concluding the laptop search very soon....

i noticed the vostro range on dell....

so i have a few screen shots of laptops below... these are basically what im choosing between... If anyone could recommend/advise/anything i would be really greatful...

as you can see between the first two vostros 1500/1700 the main difference is the screen size and operating system... both come with 3 gig of ram... is vista really that bad? i want a machine for running CAD, Revit, and sketch up on.... is it really that much better going for the xp os?

1700:

price £700

1500:

price <£700

below is a XPS dell laptop

price <£700

OR a macbook... £700 (the bottom spec one) which i will add more ram too....

cheers all
