Wi-Fi question on p1 |

Used Sony Ericsson update service... knew that new firmware (generic world had been out for a while, but wasn't sure if O2 had their version yet - they do). So, now I am on latest/but O2 specific version of P1i firmware.
Thereafter, I just created a new WLAN account from scratch... manual mode, typing SSID, WPA (TKIP with key), left all else default and saved. Then, back to WLAN connections; scan; click; connect; connected first time! Curiously, using scan for SSID in new account mode (not WLAN connection screen) could not find the router - had to manually type SSID/create account before P1i could find it with a scan?!
Seeing as previously I could WPA connect (using prior O2 P1i firmware), and only thing changed in last week was router firmware upgrade, then my thinking now is that the P1i just needed a complete reset (achieved via new firmware upgrade) to sort itself out? Bit of a pain, considering all esle re-connected without issue - but who knows?!
Anyway, happy days (for now)! |

@gbu: There is no direct link for O2 P1i firmware as such... instead you just use the Sony Ericsson update service as usual, and it detects your phone/relevant firmware. P1i's from O2 have a bespoke/"branded" firmware (v. small changes - e.g. O2 welcome/goodbye. pre-installed 3G/GPRS settings, O2 theme, etc.). When SE release a new firmware, it'll take O2 a few weeks before they "approve" it before they make it available for "their" P1i's.
Essentially, I am now on latest "Generic World" firmware, but the CDA is O2 specific - ie.:

Hi there, I too have been unable to connect via WPA Personal means. I have attempted upgrading the firmware yesterday, after reading that it has resolved the issue with one of the O2 users. However, I can't say it has worked.
My new firmware version is the exact same one as the O2 user's in this post prior.

I can still connect to my wireless at home which is setup with a WEP key, but not here in the office. Will keep you posted if I manage to get it to work in the mean time.
