looking back our discussion years ago, now it seems that "Sony Ericsson" will become "Sony" at mid 2012.

As an one of the biggest Ericsson fans its a sad thing for me.
I won't be buying a Sony as my next phone, nore samsung or apple. I'm looking forword to what Panasonic will bring to the EU market.
With Ericsson and Nokia gone: we must keep their spirits alive and buy JOLLA or YOTA |

Then that would be the upcoming Lumix line w/ the Leica lenses!

There will still be significant involvement from Ericsson as from rumours, the new 2012 line of droids will use Ericsson SoCs.
Sony Ericssons used to be ahead of many feature phones especially in areas such as camera features and quality. They still are (If someone forced to me buy a feature phone, I'd get a Sony Ericsson) but their smartphones of this year are rather disappointing. They were on par in early 2011 but when their biggest competitors moved on to dual-core processors, they're still chugging along with single-core processors with a minor speedbump of their flagship (Arc S).
I already have a Samsung Galaxy S II GT-1900G and I'm really happy. I hope Sony Ericsson (or Sony) will continue to churn our reliable and worthwhile devices. The 2012 line rumours already look good.
Plus whatever Ericsson SoC that Sony (Ericsson) will integrate into their line-up this year will have the dual-core ARM Mali GPU.

I don't care about any of this.
What I care about is that they will be branded SONY again.
I never liked Sony Ericsson as a brand-name.
Sony has such a strong brand image, and combining it like that just ruined that image.
Average customer: "Sony what?"
At least that was my perception when I first heard of the brand name, and it's always left this uncomfortable aftertaste in my mouth, so to speak. There was too much of a discord with the brand name there.
Will be glad to see things branded SONY in the familiar Sony font

As of from January 1st there is no Sony Ericsson. The mobile phone company is now officially Sony.

Imagine some serious N8 killer, I read reviews about their new G3 micro four thirds camera and the High-ISO performance is almost as good as the APS-C powered DSLRs.
