Ok, to clear some thing on this.
I geuss the number you edit should be not in the phonebook, and when dialling wait until connecting comes on the screen then abort.
To return to the original call list setting just clear the call list from the call info menu >,3,6,1,yes

or just power-down and remove your sim, and put it back in...

how come it doesn't work on mine?
I use a number not from my call list, follow exactly... but all i get is an empty space at the bottom but nothing has changed...
When i call the "unknown", I can never get the words connecting... |

oops it din't work with me too
newer says connecting, also after doing it there remains blank space in the caller list only
