HI
Ive just sent my P1i back to 02 and i havnt decided whether to get replacement P1i or change for N95, I really liked the P1i its battery life and multitasking. But could not after trying all the soltions from the threads connect to my home WLAN.
At work it just would scan and then the phone would reset its self
at home it would show as connected but no apps would connect opera, fring etc.
Ive tried everything master reset, Power save off, put in IP settings DNS setting to Wpa2... even changing router settings. I can only conclude the handset has a fault. Its a shame as i couldnt do firmware update from Sony site as its not avavilable until 3rd of september, and their tech support was very poor, non exsistant, also O2 didnt have a clue. Ive got N80 and XDA11s and they all connect straight away. Not sure what to do re replacment as i want a phone than connects to wlan easily. Other than that lovley phone to use, although found so tasks a little over
complicated compared to Nokias UI.

Cheers

MAJOR PROBLEM!!!

My P1i resets everytime I perform a scan for Wi-fi networks, this makes my P1i nothing more than just a M600i with camera! I'm checking for SEUS updates for my Singapore (CDA /87) version, hoping that there will be some miracle fix...

Yes, certain types of WiFi networks cause it to crash... this is a known issue with R6D23 but it seems to have been resolved with R6E30...(i tried to scan for networks while waiting for the bus on my way home and it no longer crashes as it did previously)....

Hi guys. I think I can help with something.

I just got my P1i and I couldn't connect on my wireless LAN. I have a D-Link 624. Then I remember that my DS had a connection problem and I tried the same way to correct it.

I went on my DHCP options on the dlink 624 and gave a static IP for the P1i mac address.

Problem solved, no I can connect to my wifi network.

Managed to get my problem resolved by a combination of switching off the phone and sending it to Flight mode... somehow these steps probably overwrote any bad Wifi settings previously and it now functions normally... !! -_-

The posts on this forum helped a lot...apparently the WPA security stack on the P1i only understands WPA2-Personal, not WPA-Personal...so you need to tweek your wireless router to connect only with WPA2. (This isn't a bad thing anyway, WPA2 is faster and more secure.)

Yes sir. It is possible. I have used the P1i and it's email client application to send and receive messages with a WLAN connection.

Just a thought:

Have you checked the IP settings ?

There are many type of issue you could have sporradically, not because of your mobile device, but just because of configuration of your access point:

1. Is your Access point DHCP server configured to distribute enough IP addresses (some are factory set to distribute 4. If you need more lease, you have to change the config)
2. Is DHCP enable (by default it is from factory, but maybe your geek friend who made your setup changed the settings)
3. Depending on your internet provider, maybe your access point is configured to distribute direct internet address from the provider, and this one allow only 1, 2 or 4 addresses...

My guess would be this kind of issue. Also, try to reset your access point. Some Dlink, Dell, or Linksys access point I've had were a bit touchy with DHCP, and after a reset, all was working fine.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

No, sir. The WEP of your router should have been set by you. There is no other way to know your WEP unless you memorized it. If you have forgotten it, then you'd have to reset your router (small pin thingy) and make your connection open for a while until you are able to set your new WEP.
